I'm glad someone said it...I didn't think Spamalot was a sure thing last year at ALL.
And I'm still bitter about that win...

I definitely think John Doyle is close to a lock for best director.
I'd hardly call DROWSY a lock for Best Musical. I really think it's going to be neck and neck up to the finish line for Drowsy, Jersey, and Purple all of which have equal chances of winning as I see it now.
And, yes, as much as we would all like to not admit it, Spamalot was the clear-cut winner for Best Musical. That didn't mean I was hoping something else would win because I was (IMO, Spelling Bee was the best new musical of that year and Spamalot was by far the worst of the four nominees--it just wasn't nearly in the same league as the beauty of Piazza or the cleverness and originality of Bee and its humor was second-rate compared to DRS). But last year, everyone knew (whether they wanted to admit it or not) that Spamalot would win Best Musical. It was a lock.
