I don't know if I should post this on the off topic board or here. I am going to post it on both just to conver my bases.

I was thinking of taking a trip from NYC to Philly to see Les Miserables at the Walnut Street Theatre. I have the money to do it and I was wondering if this would be considered a stupid move or if it is something worth doing? I haven't been to Philly before but I am very good at getting around big cities on my own without much trouble. Should I do it or not? I mean I love Les Miserables and I like the cast. Should I go

What if one board tells you one thing and the other tells you something different?

The reason why I am asking here is because usually I have these ideas that sound great in my head but aren't usually good once I act on them and I wanted to double check to see if this was going to be a good idea or one of my stupid ideas.

And, I already posted on the OT board but keep in mind one thing. It is hard to keep track of what topics to post where sometimes. There are things that one might thing should be on the main board and they get yelled at because others feel like they should be on the OT board and vice versa.

If you do decide to go you might want to go to www.phillyfunguide.com and sign up for their Fun Saver email. It gives you codes for half price tickets for certain performances, and Les Mis is currently on there.

Do it! I went last Thursday straight from my job on Long Island and thought it was so worth it. I've seen Les Mis so many times, I've lost count and was so disappointed in the broadway revival. This production reinforced what made me love Les Mis in the first place. The staging was great, the talent was amazing, and for once, I felt like the cast (most of it) was so vocally talented that they were able to really get into the acting. It was one of the most amazing productions I've ever seen. I hope you go, and have the same amazing experience!!!

I've traveled out of state before to see touring productions and found the excursions well worth it. If you have the means and like the show enough, why not? Plus you get to see a new city.

Definitely go! Perhaps (make that definitely...) I'm a little biased, but I love Philly more than anything (sorry, NYC) and think it's extremely easy to navigate. Walnut St is a cool theatre to visit if you've never been there, and this is a great production of Les Mis (I'll be there this Sunday!). This is one of those experiences that you should just go for.

I just went! It wasn't bad, not the greatest thing though for what some are saying. I actually found myself at times comparing the use of the revolve vs. what they had presented; suprising I happen to think Les Mis needs the revolve! But Hugh Panaro, and definately Christina DeCicco make it well-worth it; Josh Young is a nice new talent as Marius as well. For once, I actually felt that Mme. Thenardier actually outshined Thenardier during certain scenes (Dawn Spence was really good!). Hugh Panaro's fans were clearly there tonight, giving a big applause every time he sang, but suprisingly not too much for the songs that usually do: On My Own in particular (& I Dreamed a Dream but for obvious reasons). Unfortunately, there are some scenes (extremely minimal) where the staging will make you question what they're doing, but some real clever ones you think even Trevor Nunn could have made them. Another great thing about this is that the original orchestrations (obviously slightly "dumbyed down") are back in place and were highly welcomed to me especially during One Day More & I Dreamed a Dream!

I wouldn't go completely out of your way to see it (unless your a huge Panaro fanatic), but it looks like you have the means & time to do so, so it wouldn't kill you! Advice for buying a ticket to any Walnut show: don't buy seats too far over to the side. Try not to go anymore than 3 from the far aisle. (I think the Center Orchestra is for subscribers only).

And Philly's a great town (needless to say). Have a great time!
