Jackie fans really want her to get a final performance in If/Then
Thanks <3

Why not just give her the final performance while you are at it? If Idina gets sick then her standby/understudy will go on. Thats the only reason.

We don't know if they're going too
Maybe since the whole show is Menzel & she has been with it since day one. She started it so, barring illness, she should end it.
Well, she's the understudy, there are no guarantees. And no precedent to do so.
Nothing against Jackie Burns, but a lot of Idina fans would be pissed if that's the show they had tickets to attend.
I dare say, Ms. Burns need not go on again. (Hasn't she done about 10 shows?) This show is a vehicle, people pay for the synergy of performance and material here, as they did for Peters in "Song and Dance," (the best parallel I can come up with). I don't think most people purchasing tickets want to see anyone but Menzel.
People pay to see Idina. The producers could care less about some twitter campaign. Now that being said, I'm sure Jackie will go on sometime between now and March. But the little twitter campaign or whatever it is, is a bit ridiculous.

While I loved Jackie as Elizabeth, more people should get to see Jenn in the role. She is incredible. What a talent. Doubt she'll get another show though :/

They really should record this for theatrical distribution, like they do with National Theater Live. It would do well. Her Fans would buy the DVD.
I'd get a refund if I went to see the show again and Idina wasn't on.

This is a completely ridiculous idea. The LAST show to the stand-by? No. Kiss all the ticket sales goodbye, and not a good way to end IF/THEN's run at all. As much as I appreciate Burns, she hasn't been a draw for the show.
Just no. And idiotic thread title, OP.

I never said she gets the final performance I'm saying she gets A final performance
I think they want her to have A final performance, not THE final performance. It's still a daft idea, but thankfully Twitter hasn't sorted out how four retweets can make someone else sick, so shouldn't be a concern.

Oh I see, totally read that as the final (but the title wording still implies she's definitely getting one).
It's not in IF/THEN's best interest for a planned show, given how much the grosses fall when anyone besides Menzel is in the role. At this point, the producers just want to get as much back as they can with the close announcement. But haterobics is right, a Twitter petition goes nowhere with this.
And while I'm sure she'd be happy to get to play the role again, she understands her job....and is a grown up.
What an utterly ridiculous idea.
"Let's all rally together and 'convince' the producers to grant the star's understudy one last chance to perform the lead role."
Really?!!!
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN unless Idina gets sick between now and the final show.
There exists some bizarre idea that understudies are victims, that they are "entitled" to appearances. "It's only fair!" someone said in another thread. Perhaps this sheer fantasy was created around the Lanie Kazan FUNNY GIRL mystique. But no understudy -- and I've known several who've worked on B'way, who appreciate what great jobs they are -- expects management or the stars to provide them with opportunities to replace healthy, present actors hired for the roles.
I love how some people think they are entitled to such ridiculous things. Nothing against Jackie Burns but she is the understudy. People are paying to see Menzel. Jackie goes on if Menzel CANNOT perform. Menzel, hopefully, has a good work ethic and goes on as much as she can. You are not entitled to a scheduled performance from Jackie Burns before the show closes. Get your childish head out of your a$$

The best you can ask for is Idina having a holiday or scheduled day off. But I don't know if there are any scheduled ones. Those ones would have to be announced since her name is above the title and they would have to refund any tickets for people that wanted them (I believe that's the policy). Otherwise she would have to get sick in some way and it would be much harder to find out if Jackie Burns is going on for that performance.
But really, your request is ridiculous as everyone has said. Imagine if people wanted Alan Cummings understudy to have "one last shot" at playing the emcee. It's absurd.

You're joking right!?
It's Idina's show and that won't happen!

Is there a trap door like in Wicked?
That original tweet has now been retweeted SEVEN TIMES, so momentum is building!
If the Academy Awards producers had any creativity (but let's face it, Meron/Zadan are on the fence…) they'd have Idina and John Travolta present Best Song together which would necessitate Idina missing a Sunday matinee in February. Probably won't happen, but should!

Sorry, not going to happen. It would cost more than they would make in ticket sales for a planned performance absent Idina. Hence why they cancelled all shows surrounding the Super Bowl while Idina is traveling. Unless Idina gets sick, Jackie will not go on.

The title says it though...
