I really like Laura Benanti, both as a performer and as a funny tweeter. I do think she's being wayyyy too much of a stuck up b on this. Chill out. I think she doesn't love the fact that her video was mostly around Broadway circuits, while Jane's one is on Funny or Die, and got a lot more attention.
^Agreed. I also think that Laura genuinely believes Jane's creative team ripped off her idea when (sorry to say) that video was not seen beyond theater circles.
I thought Jane Krakowski and Laura Benanti might be friends from their time working on NINE. Obviously the fact they worked together doesn't mean they are friends, but I guess in my fan dream they would have been. Guess not.
I don't see how Funny or Die or Krakowski's people stole the other concept. This sort of fake audition parody is pretty common, and the jokes are very much tied to Krakowski's comedic persona (the pixie dust addiction, the sexualized singing, the "Cabaret" performance, etc).
"Seeing as Laura was Steven's beard for a number of years... yes, you'd be very right."
Oh, STFU.

i don't see any of her tweets about this on her page. can someone post a link
I think she deleted them. So curious! For those who saw them, what did they say?
The tweets were pretty standard. A few replies saying "I'm genuinely furious" and other angry remarks along those lines. Kinda funny that she deleted them.
One of them was like something like "There's nothing I hate more than when people rip off your ideas." Plus, she re-tweeted all the people who pointed out that Laura's was first.
I love Laura as a performer and comedian, and I've found her to be an extraordinarily sweet person when I've spoken to her after her performances. However, I am a little irked by how she handled that...
Like when she tweeted something about casting stars in The Sound of Music and then a few months later she was cast in it...
