I know Jesse has been simping Audra’s performance since he saw the show, and I’ve been vocal about how i didn’t love her in the role. But MY GOD I’m so tired of the implication and narrative that she was somehow slighted by not winning the Tony. The woman has SIX. SIXXXXX. No sane person can make a case that Audra McDonald has been passed over unfairly by the Tony Awards. Enough.

I don't see any implication in the above article that Green thinks she was slighted by not winning. (I know that sentiment is out there on social media).
I was coming here to joke that he forgot about his favorite musicals, Redwood and Smash.
And then I read the article and saw that he didn't. Sigh.

I wonder how many years of Jesse Green at the NYT readers will have to endure.
I love that he picks very specific moments instead of heralding shows in thier entirety.
Interesting read, to me, anyway.
I'm no fan of Green's tenure at the Times but I can't really find anything particularly objectionable about this.

To be fair, one of my favorite moments of the Broadway season was in Smash too. When the lights came up at the end and I was able to finally escape the theatre? Incredible.
