What does it take, or how do you get a job at a theatre on Broadway just as like a box office worker, someone who sales merchandise, ushers...etc? The jobs working in the theatre but not as an actor or a stage hand and what not. It's something I've always wanted to do. What does it require and how do you go about that???

As far as selling merchandise or bartending, there are always job postings on Playbill.com - just go to the "job" tabs. Sweet Concession is in charge of like all the food/drink stuff at most of the theaters.

Merchandise sellers work for one of the various merch companies, not the theatres... and almost all will post on Playbill when they're looking for sellers. :)

Bumping up this thread!
I am about to graduate from college, my ultimate job will end up being in theatre admin which I am interning in right now, and will still be come summer.
I need to get another job to supplement my stipend & thought working merch on Broadway would fit well with my actual career.
If there aren't postings on Playbill, where can I go to inquire info on this? Is it a union?

I'm not asking about box office, I'm asking about selling merch at shows.

It is not a union job, I've worked for two of the different companies. I found both jobs on Playbill. Most of them pick up seasonal sellers during the summer/holiday months, and if they like you there's usually a possibility of being hired for a regular position.

ILuv2Shop531, I hope to do the same thing, but I have to go back to college. What are you majoring in?

This wasn't my topic I started, I just bumped it up. I am a musical theatre major but I have in the last year interned on development and found that to be my true passion in the theatre.
Perfectly marvelous, would you be able to message me the names of the companies so that I can inquire or is better to wait to see them on playbill?

Like I said, most of them probably aren't hiring now anyway, it will come up on Playbill when they are. The biggest companies I know about are Araca, Creative Goods, Marquee, and Disney, and then I think there are a couple of smaller ones. I've seen all of those companies advertise on Playbill, but you have to be quick when responding. They aren't easy jobs to get but once you get hired by one company I would imagine it's easier to get hired by the others.
