You have got to be freakin' kidding me!
Amy Spanger is WAYYYYYY to old to play a delicate, 20-something waif.

And Kristin isn't?
At least Amy is younger than her.

I don't think Anne would consent to being a replacement in a Broadway revival with lukwarm reviews. After Stamos drove Bye Bye Birdie into the ground I don't think he'd be in the first round of talks.
Stanger is younger that Cheno and looks younger, so I think she'd be ok. Her attendance record may make producers hesitant.

Posted: 8/16/10 at 4:19pmPlease don't blame Stamos for the BIRDIE mess. The responsibility for that was solely due to director/choreographer Bobby Flatbottom.

Posted: 8/16/10 at 4:50pmDolly, I know the director was a nightmare, but most reviews noted that Stamos and Gershon could not sing the parts well and had little of the necessary stage presence.

Posted: 8/16/10 at 4:52pmWould anyone believe John Stamos as a character whose physical presence is so unremarkable that Fran Kubelik has trouble remembering his name or viewing him as a viable alternative to Sheldrake? And as Bye Bye Birdie proved, putting glasses on him is not enough to put a damper on Stamos' looks.

Posted: 8/16/10 at 4:53pmI think David Schwimmer would be a terrific!

You need to put a question mark in your thread title.
Stamos couldn't sell Birdie or Nine or H2$ for any long amount of time. And an appearance on Glee isn't going to boost his star value the way it did for Cheno.
And what Smaxie said.

In thinking more in terms of Jack Lemmon in The Apartment
I'm reminded of...
Not that he would necessarily be available.

>>>"Dolly, I know the director was a nightmare, but most reviews noted that Stamos and Gershon could not sing the parts well and had little of the necessary stage presence."<<<
If the director/choreographer had done his job, he would have drawn performances from the principals and their performances might have worked. I saw the show twice and felt strongly that Stamos could have been fine in the part had he been given real direction. The "Put On You Happy Face Number" was ludicrous in its staging. It was obviously created for the talents of Dick Van Dyke or Donald O'Connor.
There was enormous animosity backstage in that show and it carried over the footlights.
Don't judge Stamos or Gershon for the mess that was on stage. They were left at sea by an absentee leader.

I think probably enough to play the role. Sean can't sing much either. But I think his acting to pull it off.

Posted: 8/16/10 at 9:15pmWhere does it say that someone has to be in their 20's to play this part? Its not like that doesnt take place at any age. Whats up with Betty Buckley playing in PP in London? She was born in 47, Kristin in 68. Big age difference there. Personally Buckley is too old.

What the hell are you talking about? Buckley played it in 1969 when she was 22 years-old.
Lorna Luft played the role when she was only 19. The character is clearly a young woman. Heck, there's a song called "A Young Pretty Girl Like You."
