I have no opinion on the Jonas Brothers and won't be seeing this. However it is rather humorous that a person who saw a quoted comment from the group directed to their fans and got huffy enough to declare "These guys were never and will never be 'my boys'" (which was a ridiculously stupid comment) feels comfortable insulting anyone else's taste or discernment.
Perhaps you should learn how quotation marks work, and that not everything is about nor directed toward you?

If I recall correctly, the poster in question was also screeching recently about how New York is a crime-ridden hellhole and how he was randomly attacked on the street. Perhaps by the Jonas brothers? At least that would make some kind of sense.

I think this is great! I wish they’d take some of the vacant theaters between tenants and let comedians do like a coupllw shows here and there. I know it’s not as easy as that but I dig this!

...when did the Jonas Brothers hurt you?"
Well, it started when they released their first album and invaded my social media feeds."

I'm truly impressed by all the Jonas Brothers defenders. Who knew they were still "a thing". You are truly a rabid and passionate bunch. I have been been "schooled." Thank you for the insight and enjoy the "concert!"

I hope there’s diverse casting in this.

Posted: 2/24/23 at 2:47pmNot to derail this riveting argument, but I think this model is really interesting and I'm curious to see how it does (honestly, this is what I would've wanted for Taylor Swift, but then tickets would've been truly impossible to get). Like I think the age demographic for each particular night could be wildly different and I really don't know the JoBros albums well enough but I wonder if there are certain nights that would be way better sold than others, or if people wouldn't care and would just want to see them live.

It also feels like a very small amount of lead time, only about 3 weeks to sell tickets. The whole thing just fascinates me.

I love this idea. I hope more artists do this in vacant theatres - Sara Bareilles… I’m looking at you.
but it does make me wonder - are there other theatres available? Sure enough the Jonas brothers could fill something like the broadway vs the Marquis?

Considering that's Jersey, and that one of them was on Broadway well before the brothers were a musical act, they not only don't have far to go, it could be argued they are doing exactly that."
That's great, now would they use the ferry, the Lincoln or Holland tunnels or just the GWB? :)"

Joe also was a child Broadway actor . He was in La Bohome around the same time Nick was in Les Mis. Joe was also in Grease Live as the hand dance singer.
First of all, its "La Boheme" not "La Bohome". And doing "Les Mis" isn't exactly an impressive feat - the production descended into stunt casting after awhile. Joe was in "Grease Live" and his group sang "Born to HAND JIVE"...LMAO @ "the hand dance singer".
Judging from the responses here I now see who this show is catering to. It's all starting to make perfect sense."
OMG. I didn't drink my coffee yet. I forgot the name of the song .

I wonder if each night will be a short show. Like I think the Elvis Costello residency shows are on the shorter side because each has a different focus. Good on them for using the Marquis.
Also from what I have seen from my godkids videos from the JoBro concerts, it seems they do a fair bit of lip syncing. It fascinates me that live performers would lip synch and pass it off as a live show. It makes me sad although I know lots of performers do it.

The Broadway is likely going under big renovations for Here Lies Love, and the Marquis is a prime location and a digital marquee so no extra money spent there. And I’d imagine the shows are designed to be 90mins.
Re: lip syncing, it’s pretty standard now for singers to use a backing vocal or a doubling vocal. So they very well might be singing live but the doubling might just be louder. No real comment on if this is good or bad but that’s the industry. Arguably one of the biggest if not the biggest singer right now is Taylor Swift who by all accounts is an awful singer. You could walk down 8th Ave and find 200 people who could sing her songs better here we are!

I was fortunate to catch Sara do a benefit concert at The Capitol Theater in Port Chester NY right after she left Into the Woods. It was the best concert I have been to in the last five years. Just her and the piano. Sublime. So I agree and wouldn’t It be something if she could do a week at the the new Palace?
