Everything is always about the fans. Don't you know that?
I look at it this way. If they extend I'll be happy for them (though i will pray that its when i'm still home so that I can go too)and hey, I spent $55 on tickets, that $35 more than I would have spent and it's not like I have a problem seeing this show again. Plus all of my friends have bought tickets for this show so at the very least it will be a great show that I'll enjoy with my friends, just like the old days when we all used to see it together all the time.

Please- I shouldn't have joked I forgot Rent fans have no sense of humor. The truth? If they can make more money they will extend. If they can make more money, they'd bring back the original stars or sell Idina by the pound for dog food. It's all about the benjamins, kid and don't you forget it.

I hate the show is closing. I really hope that it will extend, though it is unlikly.

If they extend I'll be glad knowing that mothers' heads across the country will be exploding because their brat child had to be at the closing night's show and they just shelled out 200 dollars for tickets and an extra however many hundred for plane tickets.
Oh, and don't forget "EXTENDING RENT RUINED MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE" scribbled across the front of the theater in Sharpie.
Yikes, I'm staying away from the Rent threads from now on. I've deleted my last post, in case it came out wrong. And yes I do understand how businesses work. As such, the increase in revenue that is expected for its closing months isn't necessarily guaranteed to continue if they extend it. How many people who are purchasing tickets now to see it one final time before June 1st would be willing to return during the extension? The only day that would be guaranteed to sell out again would be the closing performance (what I meant by my comment regarding cheating the people out of the previous final performance). I'm sure attendance would continue to be greater than it has been the past couple of months, but I question whether or not it would be enough to justify continuing to run the show. An honest question, how many of you who are hoping for an extension from June 1st are hoping for it so that you can go to the show multiple times over the summer as opposed to wanting tickets for the final performance? I know there are many die hard fans, so perhaps I'm underestimating how many people fall into the first category. But that's all I'll say on Rent. And just because you don't agree with someone else's opinion doesn't make it ludicrous or ridiculous. For those of you hoping for an extension I hope you get it :)
There's a difference between an opinion and being wrong about fact. I love it when people realize they were wrong and in order to cover their asses, insist it was just a different opinion, though. One of my cyberspace favorites.

guymy, recall the state of Rent when Anthony and Adam came back. A date for their departure was announced, tickets were purchased for those dates, people were thrilled. A few weeks later it was announced that they had extended their run. The people who bought tickets for their last show flipped, but every night until they left there was a literal MOB of theatre-goers who'd just seen the show.
I'd say expect an extension. ESPECIALLY if they can strike some deal with some/all of the original cast. The crowd will be like it was with Anthony and Adam x 1000.

Dane you just put the image of 1000 adams and anthonys in my head.
Excuse me if it's a silly question, but will there be discount codes for the last 2 months ? I don't know if they offer them when the show is near to closing and up to now RENT was on my (will-get-discounted-tix) list for my April trip ! I will gladly pay full price otherwise, but I thought I'd ask !
At 7pm on June 1, 2008, I'll probably be wasted and even possibly high celebrating my 34th birthday.
Why? Is something else going on then?
well that's, your loss, robbie, because anyone who's anyone will be at the last show of the greatest single piece of musical theatre ever created by by humans since the dawn of recorded time.
Gee-gosh... RENT will extend till the end of the year. As with CATS and A CHORUS LINE -- those 2 shows kept extending their closing dates. I also think LES MISERABLES and MISS SAIGON did so as well.
IN MY LIFE is coming back?

Thank you sweet jay ! I've seen those, but since I'll be there in April, I was wondering if they are going to release a last discount after that or not, since the show is expected to sell really well those last two months !

Hey, I chuckled at it. I didn't get the impression that anyone took your post seriously...
I would love to se the closing show as well - but thats very, very unlikly.
Why is everyone being so catty? Starting arguments online, real mature.
I'd bet money the show extends until Labor Day.
It doesn't make any sense to close a youth-oriented show right before school gets out, at the cusp of the summer-rush.

That wouldn't NEARLY be as big as this. Rent has been open 12 years, Xanadu has been open what? 7 months?
