I am sorry to read how so many of you have resorted to such nasty comments about Diana Degarmo and the recent announcement that she will be playing Maria in West Side Story at AMTSJ. I can assure you that the creative professionals who cast her in the role are thrilled that she auditioned (YES, that's right, audtioned) beautifully: singing and acting the role with honesty, joy and true professionalism. I can also assure you, that although she will certainly be a box office draw, she earned the role over dozens of other wonderful candidates. I can also tell you that she is one of the most delightful, unpretentious people I have met in the industry in a long time. She is simply, a delight. And not only that, she is beautiful. So please save the catty comments and try showing some support for one of your peers and a true American Idol.

I happened to catch her on Blue Collar TV (I just flipped to it and saw her. I didn't go out of my way to watch it, I swear) the other night. She was acting very ... hard.
I do think Diana fanatics who probally know zippo about Broadway should stop coming on here just to stick up for her.

It's interesting, though, all these people popping in to show some Diana-Love? Did she send out a memo? A flying pigeon? A 10% coupon for the pasta fagioli?

Have you guys noticed how fat Sara Ramirez has become? Maybe she's missed so much of Spamalot's run because she's hitting the All-you-Can-Eat buffet down the street! I heard they shut down early on Monday once she cleaned that place out. That fat tubby outght to know better!

Eh, if she's hungry, let her eat. If it's All-You-Can-Eat, it's All-You-Can-Eat. If it's All-You-Except-Sara-Ramirez-Can-Eat, then it should say so. And I guess they'll know to have more food on hand on Mondays from now on.

Easy for you to say. You don't own the restaurant!

Well, then they should change their policy. All-You-Can-Eat (Unless you recently won a Tony for best featured actress in a musical. Then you gotta pay by the plate).

HOLY crap you guys crack me up!
as far as the guy who works for the theatre (top of this page)
If what you say is true she must have learned how to sing on pitch! quite an accomplishment! and she stopped making that "OH I'm so amazing!" face when she sings?
I don't believe in casting bit names with not too much talent... I'm not dumb, I watched AI-- she never once sang a song that wasn't pitchy. she sounds fine in the studio recordings but anyone can, that's what all that expensive equipment is for. it's ALWAYS a drive to sell more tickets.

But she's a true american idol, Stephanie. You better bow down and show some respect to the Degarmo. Or you'll never be allowed to eat at The Olive Garden again! Ever again!

Thank you for that, maxbair. That matches up with what I had already been told. She's not going to please everyone but I have a feeling the vast majority of those who buy tickets to this show are going to think she was a more than acceptable Maria. Personally, I always envisioned her first musical role being Sandy, in Grease, but I like the idea that she's doing the unexpected.
First of all, her new hair color makes her look damn stupid.
Secondly, WTF is up with this casting? This whole show is gonna go down in flames.
Third, Sara Ramirez is amazing. She is not fat and she should be allowed to eat wherever and whatever she wants.
