I've avoided Chicago for years, but this might make me go see it. I love me some Kandi. Her debut album is so much fun!

I don't know much about her, but her name came up during my recent travels to NYC.

She mentioned on Watch What Happens Live a few weeks ago that she was coming to Broadway. Wendy Williams nailed the next day when she said the only thing she could think of Kandi doing was be Mama Morton. (Pretty sure she'll sing it better than Wendy did, though.)

Yikes. Her voice is very shaky and annoying, especially when she has to do anything other than stand in one spot in her recent Xscape performances.
I don’t mind her in that clip though. And she HAS to be better than Wendy. And didn’t Nene also do Mama?

Fantastic voice. Her acting (when I saw her almost two weeks ago) is serviceable. Nothing to complain about on her end - some...interesting ensemble performers, a Roxie that’s been in the role far too long (I could tell before looking it up at intermission) and sound issues as the band overpowered the actors throughout multiple numbers.
The new Amos Hart is pretty great. The audience seemed to be more invested in him and the orchestra more than anything else!
I’ve heard talk that this show needs to refresh the cast, and thought people were just being picky....but they were right. The cast looked SO BORED, especially sitting on the edge of the stage when they weren’t being featured. It was honestly hilarious. I thought one of them was going to fall asleep.
Maybe the show opening in London will bring some change to the Broadway cast?
