Katie Finneran Leaving PROMISES, PROMISES?

According to this article, Finneran is pregnant and will be leaving the show on October 10th.

Has anyone heard any further confirmation?

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I heard it about three weeks ago, but this is the first confirmation I've seen. She got married on Sunday, I believe.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Congratulations to Katie and Darren. Those will certainly be some big shoes to fill for the next actress who comes into the role.

That's a shame, I can't imagine who will be able to replace her. Beth Leavel quickly came to mind, would she be able to do this and ELF? (too lazy to look up dates for ELF). Either way, very happy for Finneran, congratulations!

They should call Rachel York. Her website shows nothing beyond the current regional production of Spamalot.

"Marge MacDougall is going to be a momma! Promises, Promises Tony winner Katie Finneran and her new husband, actor Dareen Goldstein, are expecting a child, a production spokesperson confirmed to Broadway.com. Due to her pregnancy, Finneran will depart the production on October 10. Finneran and Goldstein tied the knot on August 22, 2010."

So sad she is leaving, she has made me love this production. Actually just picked up a ticket for tonight, I hope she didn't go on her Honeymoon this week...

Rachel York must do this!!!!

Last Wednesday Molly Shannon was at the night show, I was wondering if they were considering giving the role to her, maybe a little start power could keep the show going?

Considering that the show will likely close when Hayes and Chenoweth leave in December, they'll probably just promote Megan Sikora and have her do the last two months. That is, unless they're going to try and go the replacement route in order to keep the show open.

Molly Shannon had a recurring role on WILL & GRACE, and she had one great episode in which she was obsessed with Jack (played by Sean Hayes). She might have just been there to support Hayes, or maybe she is indeed being considered for the role. She had brilliant chemistry with Hayes on WILL & GRACE so I can only imagine what the two of them on stage would be like.

Speaking of Will & Grace chemistry, I would love to see Megan Mullally in this role.

Although the idea of Megan Mullally causes a tingly joy within me..I doubt she'll join the comapny just to be a bit part.

^Elizabeth in Young Frankenstein isn't much of a bigger role. She is in Act 1 for like one song and then doesn't return until she surprises Dr. Frankenstein at his castle.

I'm glad everything is going so well in KFinn's personal life, but I'll definitely miss her onstage. She was certainly the highlight of the production!

I would love to see Molly Shannon's take on the role!

A role on Broadway, a Tony, a wedding, AND a baby? Whoa. Good for her.

I know it's just an idea, but I really hope Megan Mullally doesn't take over. I can barely watch the I Can't Believe it's Not Butter commercials, let alone take 2 hours of her.

No one can replace Katie in my mind.

The role only appears in Act 2 and for only a few minutes. She only has 2 scenes in the entire musical and sings "A Fact Can Be a Beautiful Thing" with Sean Hayes' character... which becomes a comic dance number.

i know they have great chemistry and all, but bringing in Megan to be opposite Sean would feel far too gimmicky.

If this part were to go to a traditional Broadway actress I think Susan Blackwell would be funny in the role.

I know, I've seen the show. But I still wouldn't be able to take that much Megan Mullally.

So Marge is only in about 10 minutes or less of the show? Why would that be a good thing for Finneran at all if she does it for the love of theater?
