I also love how their biggest concern about ACL closing is that Mario Lopez will be out of a job.
BobbyBubby, way to read the article.
"Because of the “All My Sons” rehearsal schedule, they had to cut Mario Lopez’s run in “A Chorus Line.”
What does the rehearsal schedule of two different shows have to do with an actor being released from the other...that comment confused me...

Mario was originally contracted through September.
They probably heard that and wrote the article without looking into the other vital info. Like ticket sales.
The whole idea of ALL MY SONS going into the Schoenfeld/Plymouth, whatever its called, is because CHORUS LINE is vacating the space.
I heard Lopez stormed out in a pissy huff when he found out Katie was going to be baring her arms. Just a rumor, tho...
Julia's producers were smiling all the way to the bank. And she can spend the rest of her life saying "My show was sold out every night" with a straight face.
And I find it interesting to see the same very hurtful remarks on the youtube Katie Holmes thread as I see nowadays on this site. Do some of you people have dual identies? Well, it would make sense. If you're a jealous, petty, hateful little see how I travels here, you'd probably also be one elsewhere.

Oooooh...snap?

So are we now equating Katie Holmes with Julia Roberts? What makes them think people will go out of their way to see Katie Holmes? I'd rather see her co-stars in the play.
She and Mel Brooks are going to get together and close every single other show until theirs are the last two standing. They're just that powerful.
Only Debra Monk may be able to close their shows!

Those 98% figures means number of tickets sold...not number of people who actually walked through the doors. If ticket brokers bought 30% of the tickets and sold them at half price...that is not going to be figured into the avergae ticket price. Would the run have been sold out? Yes. But because the scalpers got ahold of so many tickets, it skews the reality of what happened with regards to actual attendance. I'm sure a lot pf people were glad they weren't able to get tickets. And the house was not always full. It wasn't until the scalpers started drastically cutting their prices that it started filling up again.
>Those 98% figures means number of tickets sold...not number of people who actually walked through the doors.<
Who cares? They sold 99.58% of their house during the run, whether the tickets were used or not.
Does anyone know if NUT JOB will be coming with her to NYC?
As I said before, the producers must have rejoiced over the decision to cast Julia Roberts. Solid gold, baby. Solid gold.
If I bought every seat in the house and then shredded the tickets in protest, how does it make a difference? Its still a sold out performance.
This reminds me of when Cats had to close because Angela Lansbury was going to do "The Visit" and she HAD to have the Winter Garden.
"Does anyone know if NUT JOB will be coming with her to NYC?"
Perhaps by that time she will have fullfilled her contractual obligation as beard and mother of his spawn.

Because you make it sound like people were flocking to see her, when that's not true. I remember when RENT's first national tour opened in Chicago, they did about a week's performances without selling seats in the balcony (about 35% of the seats in the house). It was a marketing ploy to claim the show was sold-out so that they could increase ticket prices during the "extension." While that isn't the same situation here, to claim that people were buying tickets because of demand is a false asserton. Was the performance sold-out? Technically, but it wasn't because people bought them, it because brokers bought them (and were unable to sell them).
Brokers are (allegedly) people too.

Katie can barely carry a tune - that YouTube video was alarming.
Tom1071 - I wouldn't be surprised if Tom wasn't there. I can see Entertainment tonight covering the Cruise Clan's move to New York for Katie's run in the show.
I asked my friend, who is a concierge, if he has gotten any request for tickets. Usually he will have guests from overseas call way ahead to have him secure tickets. He said he has not gotten one request for this show.
The Scientologists will make it the Schoenfeld the new Celebrity Center. Free readings with each ticket stub. Come to New York! See a show! Get clear!
Soon Cubby will be dating Suri.
The mind boggles...
Well, I always felt that ACL could have ran through the end of the year considering the large profit it has made. But it's not as if the Schoenfeld was the only theatre available.
They can set up the "stress test" table for intermission.
