bbbbbbbwah?
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

I definitely read the headline and thought it was an article from The Onion, or something.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I heard this rumor a few months ago. I think it's a great idea.

Will it still be running in 6 months?

Well, there was that production of Richard II where the King and the Bolingbroke alternated, and that was an ongoing thing rather than a switch after six months, so it doesn't sound totally demented. A little baffling, but not totally demented.

There was a Broadway revival of TRUE WEST is which Phillip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly alternated roles nightly.

I wasn't fond of casting Grammer as Georges and even less fond of the idea of him as Albin. Where is James Naughton when you need him?

What does this mean for Douglas Hodge? Will he switch roles or is he just contracted for the 6 months or...? It's all so vague and strange.

This just seems like a big gimmick. I wouldn't be surprised if the Weisslers came up with this idea.

I do not see him as Albin at all! I don't love this plan...

Why not try to see things from a different angle?
For now at least, I've been getting glowing reports on Kelsey's Georges from friends in rehearsal.

While I think this could be a great idea, it just strikes me as wildly optimistic that the producers are so sure it will still be running in 6 months.

I think that when Kelsey Grammer was offered the show the role that he wanted to play was Albin but Douglas Hodge was already in talks. As U.S. Equity would only allow Hodge to play a limited run in New York anyway, the producers dangled the carrot of Grammer taking over as Albin if he would open the show as George.

If only Sean Hayes and Kristen Chenoweth could work out a similar arrangement.

I think it is a great idea. Kelsey Grammer is one of our great actors. Nobody can play Fraiser Crane like he can. It will be good to see a real star actually play the role.

Will it still be running in 6 months?
It will now. Smart move by the producers. I, and probably quite a few others, will be sure to catch this show twice.

Has anyone tried?

I've just never been a Kelsey Grammer fan. The only role I think I'd like to see him in is Higgins in My Fair Lady. But who knos, maybe I'd love him in La Cage. He certainly wouldn't keep me from seeing this revival again.

I think Grammer is potentially a far more versatile actor than people give him credit for. And who knows, maybe the novelty of seeing 'Frasier Crane in a dress' will bring a whole new audience to this show after its initial six months?
I actually think this one could be the sleeper hit of the season.

Are you kidding? This is brilliant marketing at it's finest. Now you just put David Hyde Pierce in the Georges role and you've got another year of a run. "Frasier reunited"

And Bebe could sing "The Best of Times Is Now"!
Don't underestimate Kelsey. He's a Julliard-trained actor and extremely versatile.

I'd like to see them try that with Brigadoon.
That being said, Kelsey is a bit of a stiff board and Gene Barry was nobasket of emotions either, so he may be great. Now as Albin, who knows? Except that Frasier, if you think about it,could get very agitated and prancy and obviously was working far to hard to mascarade his sexual.... wow. It........ might........ woooooooork.......

Then they could have Elena Roger and Ricky Martin switch. He would do one hell of a "Rainbow High"!
