Very entertaining show last night. Cynthia Erivo delivered another magnificent vocal performance in the Dionne Warwick segment, singing "Alfie," Lin-Manuel Miranda, accompanied by Marc Shaiman, performed a fun Oscars-style medley for Billy Crystal, and Tituss Burgess, Susan Graham, and Christine Baranski honored Renée Fleming with "You'll Never Walk Alone." Ben Platt and Ariana DeBose were featured in the Barry Gibb tribute, but those clips aren't available online yet.

Erivo's Alfie is just otherworldly.

It was a very good night. Solid performances by everyone.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

It did make me long for the days of a dignified Walter Cronkite introduction. You know, vs. Estefan doing the Conga (?!)

I forgot about Dove Cameron. Here's a bit of her singing "The Light in the Piazza" for Renée Fleming:

Honestly, I look forward to the show every year and found this year’s to be lackluster - especially Barry Gibb’s segment. He has lots of hits and that was the best talent they could find to honor him? DeBose really just doesn’t do it for me. They had video clips of people he’s collaborated with over the years, but nobody could show up for him? Billy’s was my favorite as he had lots of his old collaborators show up.

Also, in watching, I’ve decided that Shaiman deserves one himself. He played during all of the Crystal tribute and the gospel choir sang “I Know Where I’ve Been” from Hairspray for Queen Latifah. He’s done so much movie music in his career, and I’d like for him and other songwriters (Schwartz, Menken, etc.) to get their due. They’re behind music that has had such a lasting impact and while the show used to honor songwriters, it doesn’t seem to anymore.

We were saying remember Caroline Kennedy as host.Miss her. Ben Platt always looks sloppy. His tux did not fit well and those baggy pants. lol LMM always the showman one of the best moments.

Lin and Shaiman stole the show.

Grab your torches, head back to camp. Goodnight.

I am not a huge rap fan but my favorite performance was by Rapsody (And I want that coat she was wearing). Enjoyed the rest of the Queen Latifah tribute.

The performance I was most surprised that I really enjoyed was Ben Platt doing "Nights on Broadway". I think he sounded great and he just seemed to be having a lot of fun.

I wasn't crazy about the final performance by DeBose. It just fell kind of flat for me.   JMO

They should do a film version of Light in the Piazza headlined by Dove and Renee.

Get your head out of your you-know-where! :) Dove's singing here is awful, and Renee is not an actress.

Especially when Amy Adams and Rachel Zegler are right there. Not that there should be a film version.

That opening number with Gloria Estefan was such a wasted opportunity. I know she’s a past recipient, but having her open the show with her own old songs was really uninspired and just felt like lazy producing.  I really miss the show format in the 90s and aughts minus the index card reading.

There have been so many amazing performances at these programs over the years.  I often go to youtube to watch them again and again.

Nothing on this year's show will be remembered by the end of the weekend.
