I need some songs that would lighten a mood. I have already "Always look on the bright side of life" from SPAMALOT , "I got rhythm" and "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" From LES MIS. (Kidding!)
"I Read" - Passion.
But really, if you take "Everything's Coming up Roses" out of context and look it as a genuine hopeful song, it could be uplifting?
Or the Sound of Music etc.
or Light from N2N?
"For Now" - Avenue Q?
Idk, there are probably uplifting songs in every 0.8 musicals because the nature of theatre etc..
Put on a Happy Face -- gotta be the ultimate in cheer ups!
Happy Talk ~ South Pacific
Individuality ~ Billy Elliot
Forget About the Boy ~ Thoroughly Modern Millie
Look to the Rainbow ~ Finian's Rainbow
In context, how happy is "happy talk" meant to be? At least as presented in the revival PBS broadcast it seemed a little depressing.
I presumed this was all fairly out of context.
Choose to Be Happy ~ Grey Gardens
Nothing Bad's Ever Gonna Happen Again ~ Cry Baby (good luck getting to listen to that one!)
Great Big Stuff from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
We Need A Little Christmas from Mame
I Put A Little More Mascara On from La Cage
I Believe In You from H2$
The title song from They're Playin' Our Song
Sing Happy from Flora

"Dancing Queen" in "Mamma Mia!." The purpose of the song in the show is to cheer up Donna.
If Happy talk isn't happy enough for you, check out the pop version from the eighties. It's pure bubblegum.
"As We Stumble Along" from The Drowsy Chaperone
"Lucky To Be Me" - On the Town
"I'm a Brass Band"- Sweet Charity
"Die, Vampire, Die"- [title of show]
"Free"- ...Forum
"When I'm Not Near the Girl I Love"- Finian's Rainbow
"I Can Do That"- A Chorus Line
When I'm upset and I listen to next to normal and "There's a World" comes on I feel even worse. All I can think about is Diana crying....But "Light" is a hopeful song.
Spamalot is my go to for cheering up too.

"Wig In A Box" from Hedwig is uplifting in an eccentric way if you listen to the lyrics. It makes me happy.
"I'm A Brass Band" from Sweet Charity.

Backhanded: "Now You Know" from MERRILY...
