"And MTV was pleased with the debut of "Legally Blonde: The Musical," as Saturday's afternoon preem averaged 1.27 million viewers and drew more persons 12-34 than any other program in its timeslot."
1.27 million viewers... the show would have to sell out the palace for two and a half years straight to reach that many people.

...and the show is NEVER sold-out.
Here's hoping that ticket sales have increased astronomically to validate the airing.
Just because the telecast reached that many people doesn't mean much as all those people saw the show for free.

#3re: LEGALLY BLONDE ratings ...
Posted: 10/17/07 at 4:01pmIt's not only #10 for iTunes albums, but it's the #2 soundtrack, right behind Across the Universe.

Posted: 10/17/07 at 4:10pmWow! More people watched this heavily hyped show than USUALLY watch MTV on a Saturday Afternoon? Am I a cynical old man or is that damning with very faint praise?

Now who has the LAST LAUGH ? The Tonys (for not letting them perform) or Jerry Mitchell ?
I wonder ?

Posted: 10/17/07 at 5:07pmYes, LB is beating HSM2, but HSM2 was released over two months ago, and hasn't had anything that would hype it up since.
#10re: LEGALLY BLONDE ratings ...
Posted: 10/17/07 at 5:07pmIt has nothing to do with who got the last laugh. LB wasn't deemed worthy of a performance slot during the Broadcast. It had nothing to do with hiding it from the viewership.

That's pretty amazing actually, considering MTV did NOT overly promote the show.
Good on the programming people at MTV and the team at LB for putting this whole thing on.
When is the next airing?
-Adam Shankman.
"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"
"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!"

haha I know. I was just kidding. As much as I love it, LB wouldn't stand a chance against a newly released HSM soundtrack.

honestly, any promotion of Broadway is good. i'm not a fan of the show but i do hope it increases ticket sales so that they'll see this as a valid option of warranting shows to be recorded.
(and not the kind Brody keeps harping about either)

1.27 million HOMES on Saturday
12.5 million PEOPLE in total for both weekend broadcasts.
I didn't notice that first time around!
It would have to sell to 100% for more than 17 years to play to 12.5 million people!

I can tell you that there were probably about 20-25 kids in my unit that I teach (7th and 8th graders) who watched. Out of 140 kids, that's not a bad percentage.
How does 1.27 million HOMES translate to 12.5 million people? That would mean 12 people in each home, on average, watched? That doesn't sound right...
