I saw something online about the performance being stopped and canceled mid-show last but couldn't see what happened. Anyone know??

Yep. Matt Doyle and Lena Hall both have IG stories about it. Sounds like it's COVID related, but interestingly Lena says that she thinks the show could've gone on!
Why would they cancel it mid-performance? Or why would they even let the show begin without having the covid reports in? Very odd.
If they get tested prior to starting the show, shouldn't they have had the results before they began? Makes some think it's not COVID.

I don’t know what happened last night, but, if an actor gets injured mid show and there isn’t any more coverage because of covid cases within the company, one could say that the show had to be cancelled because of covid.

And then the whole cast was gathered together backstage? This makes no sense lol
Keep in mind that backstage personnel are not immune from COVID. Based on how that post was written, which emphasizes safety, I would venture to guess someone backstage who operates critical aspects of the show was positive and not able to proceed
It still doesn't answer why the show had to be cancelled mid-performance. If it were a covid issue, logic would dictate that it should have (and could have) been seen before the show, and if the show needed to be cancelled, do that before the show starts.
I'm sure it was a covid issue, but it was a very poorly handled one.
I don't understand why this is confusing anyone. It obviously was a coverage issue whether involving an onstage or backstage individual. I thought we had worked through any confusion about this sort of thing a year ago.

Yes, but this is something that should have been found out before the show, not during the show.
The person with covid was likely not in the building, but it’s possible that’s the person who would be providing the last-minute coverage. So there was no one to step in. Throwing on an actor who doesn’t cover a track with all of the intricacies beyond what the audience sees is a safety issue. They were possibly figuring out a split track show. Or, it’s possible someone backstage became ill and they were trying to figure out how to continue. Either way, there was a shortage of people because of covid, so what they explained was true.
May I also add that, while it doesn’t sound like someone tested positive in the middle of the show, both me and my partner started a typical work day last month completely fine, tested negative before work, and about halfway through the day we each tested again because we started to not feel great, and both ended up THEN being positive. So it’s entirely possible for someone to show up Negative before curtain and things to change shortly thereafter.
