Friends want to plan a ladies' weekend in NY....and they want to see LMM in Hamilton. I'm not inclined to pony up five hundred bucks for the privilege myself. Are changes expected in NY before the fall? Do we know how long Miranda will even stay in the show? Considering the possibility of making the trip to Chicago instead--and the fact that it may very well come to my city in 2017-18--I'd want to make real sure he was still starring (at least in theory--I know understudies can go on at any show, anytime) before I dropped big bucks on NY tix. I have searched but can't seem to find anything official about contractual dates, etc. I really wonder if he might leave the NY show to help prep the Chicago cast.
My guess would be that he will leave not long after the Tonys, but the good news is that Javi's performance is better than LMM's and no reason to be disappointed. Seeing the author is an oddity-you aren't upset when you don't see John Kander performing in his shows.
LMM was on CBS Morning Show yesterday. He was asked specifically at the end of the interview how long the original cast will remain. He sort of dodged the question and said everyone has a year contract and everyone has the option to extend. My guess is previews started 7/13/15. Most contracts will end 7/13/16. Expect turnover after that as I believe most have something in the works. LMM is probably exhausted.

I would be shocked if Lin extended past July. I think he's the most likely to leave.

Lin will leave. You can tell he's exhausted. Wasn't he cast in the Mary Poppins movie? And he has to work on Moana.
Consider that several cast members have already left.

Early - mid july like the majority have stated.
I can imagine anybody who wins a tony award might extend. Like Leslie odem jr. for instance. It happened with wicked where basically their entire main cast(excluding Carole and Michelle) left a month after the tony awards, except idina menzel who was the soul tony award winner of the cast.

The chance of lin winning a tony is pretty high though. Doesn't mean he will extend lol.

I would imagine the cast will have already said whether or not they are staying before the Tonys, I doubt one month is long enough to decide on a replacement and have them fully rehearsed.

I think Jorge was speaking about performance awards.

A Tony for Book and Score, yes. Lead Actor, no. Regardless, I would assume that most of the original cast won't extend, but I think a few probably will.
A lot also has to do with their other offers/opportunities -- of which I'm sure many have. I'm seeing this in late July, and will be excited to new faces or obc. The only one I'm really rooting to stay a little longer is Leslie -- I truly can't imagine anyone else in the role.

I think it depends on whether Leslie wins the Tony.

What about Daveed? He has a pretty high chance on winning I think. to be honest I don't think Broadway was ever his real passion, I think he wants to focus more on music. Renee might stay for a bit I think.

Daveed seems pretty exhausted too, honestly. He does a fantastic job keeping it offstage, but I've seen him at the stagedoor a few times and talked to him after randomly running into him near the theatre one time, and he seemed very drained of energy. Between that and the fact that, like you said, he wants to focus more on music, I don't think he's likely to extend very long even if he wins the Tony.

I agree, out of everyone I think Renee will be the most likely to stay. She's based in NY, has a family to support and a steady job like this with a role that isn't too demanding but still must be lots of fun to play is the kind of role to stay in.
It's funny to me how completely unfounded so many of these posts are. Just complete, total assumptions.

Here's some founded information: the cast is exhausted and generally unhappy. Trickle-down economics is not happening at the Rogers.
I would be surprised if Phillipa didn't extend because it seems she would've done Natasha Pierre if she wasn't doing Hamilton.

Would they definitely have offered it to her though? Isn't there a chance that they would have given the actress that has been playing it most recently first priority?
I think Phillipa extending depends on if her fiancé's pilot gets picked up. The interview they did in The Hollywood Reporter made it seem like they would be bi-coastal if it did.

Oh I suppose some people post things that are just wrong, because they don't know what they are talking about. like you did.
