What an idiotic article. She;'s been :"offered" dozens and dozens of scripts. An offer is meaningless.
The best line of the article is "Although Gaga’s role has yet to be confirmed, the likely choice for the star is the role of Audrey, who works in a flower shop with Seymour, a guy who discovers a plant that feeds on human flesh and blood." Seriously, who the f**k else would she play? Mr. Mushnik???
She’d be perfect but just because she was offered it doesn’t mean much. Her residency in Vegas will continue for another year at least and maybe more. Take this with a big grain of salt.
The A Star Is Born actress, 33 was recently “offered a role,” says the source. “She’s very interested to keep acting.”
Those are 2 very separate thoughts. I'll believe it if it happens, this film seems to be tossed around every few years.
It actually wouldn't have been a bad idea for one of the live musicals, but those seem to be done now.
I think a remake of the nearly perfect musical film is totally unnecessary, but Gaga would be a terrific Audrey.

When I worked in casting we "offered" roles to a ton of big stars knowing they'd say no, but we had to tell producers "yes we tried to get Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Natalie Portman, etc etc." no matter how absurd it was to ask if Justin would be the 15th Link Larkin replacement or whatever.
By this same logic Natalie Portman was "in talks" to star in The Wedding Singer musical. (she wasn't in any real way other than saying no)
We'll see if this ever materializes, but regarding her Vegas residency - Gaga more or less can make her schedule. I also remember hearing that they filmed A STAR IS BORN rather quickly?
I mean out of any star that could take the role, Gaga would not be a bad choice. Not holding my breath though, both for her taking the role and for how this remake will turn out.
Geez, I'd forgotten how long rumors of a Little Shop remake have been around. In 2012, it was reported Joseph Gordon-Levitt was producing and maybe starring. Then in 2017, we got rumors that Rebel WIlson and Josh Gad were attached to a remake. This is definitely a "I'll believe it when I see it" project.
This movie will not and should not happen BUT I'd be down to see her play Orin lololol

She’d actually be good as the voice of Audrey 2 also.

Or she'll play Crystal, Ronette and Chiffon... Tim Burton Oompa Loompa teas
The original film is perfect with the newly restored, original ending. No thanks.
Whatever happened to the revival of "FUNNY GIRL" which she was going to star in with Rosie O'Donnell? O'Donnell was to play her mother, and she said it was definitely happening - that was nearly a year ago, I believe. No word since ?

Maybe this was just speculation, but wasn't part of the rumor that it would reopen the Palace? The Palace won't be done for a good few seasons though, so who knows? Imo seems too early for anyone thinking of what could go there next when the earliest it is opening is late 2021-early 2022.

Sigh, I hope not. Gaga's next film role has got to be Elphaba.

The one reason I am going into this reboot skeptical is that it is going to be completely CGI (because of course, not use anything practical like in the original movie, which still holds up), but Lizzo in this would make me forget that completely. Then again she would have been a great Ursula too and that's not happening, so...
There is no director nor creative team attached. We know nothing of how it would be portrayed.

Very true, but I still see it hard for any of this to be done with practical effects, unless it's a highly know director who fights for it. Even half practical/half CGI would be far better, but studios really push CGI as it's cheaper than gigantic puppets. Unless whoever directs insists on practical effects, I don't think this reboot will compare visually at all to the original movie.

In 2016 Greg Belanti was directing and Matthew Robinson was writing.
