I hope all is ok. They sent us a video message from her. But no reason is given.
I think it was revealed here recently that she was being super safe regards to not going out due to her toddler. Expectedly, they are unable to get vaccinated. So, it makes total sense to me she wouldn't want to fly out to California. Even if there were safety protocols in place, her baby should come first.

The reason I don't think that is it is because as late as yesterday Billy Strich was posting about being her musical director here this weekend. And I would think the decision about not flying to California could have been made a few weeks ago .
Her toddler would have stayed home. She said she would see people in CA like two days ago on IG. The venue was also clear about needing to be vaccinated. This appears to be an unexpected problem.
The cancelation was official at 2 pm today. Family emergency is the reason given.
Well, that kind of contradicts your first statement then.
I’m surprised she booked any dates or travel at all. Laura has been very public that she is almost phobic about getting sick. She doesn’t like performing during flu season, does not exit through the stage door or stop to sign to avoid catching something from fans and is very cautious among cast mates at times. That being said she has always sent out signed Playbills and waves and blows kisses. She is very sweet.
She has rescheduled her Costa Mesa performances (beginning tomorrow) until November. Family emergency.

We got one statement from the venue which gave no reason. And then they sent a video message from her. Two different ones. Hope all is ok. Every time I make the decision to shlep to this venue .. things get cancelled. Last time was when Betty Buckley missed most of her Hello Dolly run.

Laura’s “phobia” comes from her Into the Woods injury. Her surgery left behind scar tissue that severely affected her health for a while. She is very cautious because a cold can really knock her out.
She cancelled a concert here in Chicago a few years ago with two days notice. She's not a performer I pay to see anymore. She's an amazing talent but that concert was the fifth time I got tickets for something she was announced in and did not appear. Obviously, I hope everything is OK and wish her well.
She’s done countless projects: final season of YOUNGER, the Netflix film WORTH, plus other things so she’s been quite active during the pandemic so it’s not any COVID fears. Lots of traveling back and forth as well. She’s active on her Instagram and now TikTok, so we’ve seen keeping busy professionally and personally.
Perhaps it didn’t sell?
