How is she leaving nary a crumb behind when all the focus is on the name coming in to save the show--who will be playing the vast majority of performances? This is insane.
Synecdoche2 has it right.

That’s true about Eve. When she received the Sarah Siddons award, with the audience in awe of her, wasn’t she starring in Lloyd’s new production?
Anyway, with today’s audience eager to give input, they should bring back ‘You’re the one that I want’ or whatever that gave Laura Osnes her start…..or maybe there’s a better example. Faye Dunaway’s show?
"
I think there is already enough audience input as it is. I want the magic to come back. I want to be fulfilled with what is on the stage in front of me. I don't need to know that keys were changed and choreography was altered. But I understand that is just me.

I agree - a sense of mystique and the thrill of discovery is gone. That's because in this day and age we tend to overshare. There is this need to know what is going on every time - all of the time.

I don’t understand this stuff about magic being lost because of the existence of social media. Don’t add or follow people or shows if you don’t want to know what’s going on behind the scenes. It’s the oldest joke in the book: Patient says, “Doctor, it hurts when I do this with my arm.” Doctor responds, “Don’t do that with your arm.”

You make a very good point. I guess it is a balance. Because I am certainly fascinated by some things.

But there are those that overshare . She certainly knew that posting about key changes and such would be dissected by the vultures coming in for Lea Michelle. C’mon. The producers need to take better care of their show and their stars . They should be more on top of these things .

It's just a turn of phrase. It's not that serious. And my post was in agreement with Syndedoche. Don't be such a bore.

No, I don’t think she knew that her video would be dissected at all by you. I actually saw the video, did you? Because if you did, and you took away anything other than she was telling fans that she was nervous because there were some changes made, and if she fumbled in the next few performances it was because she was getting used to it, then you’re reading into things too much.

Agreed. How is key changed a diss to anyone? Y’all are trying to find something that isn’t there.

Bull. I saw the video . She’s not a sweet innocent thing. She’s a active tik toker very aware of how things will be looked at. PUHLEEEZE!

Look at Lainie Kazan’s successful self-marketing 58 years ago with the original Broadway production of FUNNY GIRL. Months before she finally got to go on for Streisand, she was heavily promoting herself as Streisand’s standby. Articles were written about her and “will she ever get to go on?” angle. She even appeared on TV singing “People” on a special about understudies/standbys. All this was decades before the internet and social media. She was so well-known as Streisand’s standby that reviewers and journalists would tell Lainie she MUST let them know when and if she ever was to go on. That’s how she built that list of phone numbers she infamously used to alert the press when she finally was to go on a year into FUNNY GIRL’s run. She received raves, a Colpix Records deal, and enormous demand for night club appearances. This is how you play the game. You use whatever card you’re dealt with and turn that into opportunities. If you sit back and wait for the phone to ring, you’re delusional. You MAKE things happen. You MAKE those phone calls. You POST those videos. You take charge on marketing yourself. That’s how you get jobs and the visibility that lets people know you exist. How are people going to know you have an album out if they don’t even know you exist? It’s part of the job of marketing yourself and your career. Nothing is handed to you. There are thousands trying to do what you’re doing. You have to stand out in whatever way you can.

Yes, and if social media had existed 58 years ago, you can be sure that Streisand's "stans" would have crucified and buried Kazan, and then they'd have dug her up so they could do it all over again. Julie's getting off easy!

Well, uh, don't follow her online and don't read threads where that is discussed. Pretty simple, actually.

Aaaand, you clearly don't know how to use the phrase "turn of phrase" correctly. It wasn't a turn of phrase. It was a snarky comment on her behavior. I'd rather be seen as a bore than as someone who's snide.

Everything in my post was completely complimentary of Benko. How you could think I was snide is beyond me.
Glad to see gossipy queens can still bitch and kvetch on Broadwayworld.com. Reminds me of the old days - I feel my eyes misting up!

He is just here to be difficult. Do you know he has obsessed with these funny girl threads since day one, being nasty to everyone . And he has not even seen the show.

For goodness' sake, is it really that hard to understand? She's leaving "nary a crumb" of the delicious opportunities she been given. She eating them all up and using them to her advantage. Lea has nothing to do with it.

And?
And what? I was backing up MysteriousLady, and explaining what I got from the "nary a crumb" comment.

Me scrolling to see if there are any new posts that are actually about the show Funny Girl instead of people fighting over literally nothing:
Ramin Karimloo announces on IG that he's joined the cast of "The Last Match: A Pro Wrestling Rock Musical".
