Me too! I love All About Eve. Going to listen to Julie Benkos new album and then watch All About Eve. They go hand in hand. You all go on kvetching at each other. Enjoy your Sunday any way you want.
I'm waiting to be explained how this is a similar situation?

Apologies in advance since this might have been confirmed elsewhere in the 59 page thread, but can someone confirm that the only shows that Lea will regularly be out of are Thursday nights? I thought I had read somewhere that Julia was playing two shows a week, but might have misread.
That Bette Davis sure was fabulous in this. Thanks for the bumpy ride clip. Great movie for a lazy Sunday afternoon. I am going to pop it in.
@Brando .. I had read twice a week as well. But I might have read it here. So take it with a grain of salt. I thought sg informs you when you select the performance. It does when Ramin is out.

From Ramin's official fan site: "While I take some personal time away from work (returning Sept 6) I love being by water. Beautiful day to not have an agenda. Much love to all." He posted some lovely photos of NYC from the Westside Highway and one that just said London England.

Another Reason to add "My Man" to Funny Girl. I would pay a crazy amount of money to hear Lea Michele sing that song live and many others would too, There are many that saw this production that are on the fence to coming back for Lea even though they are big fans. This will convince them to give Funny Girl another chance. Please sign the petition below.

Lea Michele will be performing all performances except Thursday evenings, which Julie Benko will be performing. Julie will continue her standby duties for Lea as well. Julie isn’t an understudy as she doesn’t have another role in the show - she’ll only play Fanny when Lea is out.

This is not making or breaking anyone's determination to see the show--though people who can't afford tickets might use it as an excuse--"Wasn't worth it. Not if they don't use 'My Man'."

Have any of the people calling Julie an Eve Harrington actually seen All About Eve? Eve got a lot more than one night a week as a standby performer. Understudies have been interacting with fans like this for years now. This entire situation has been blown up into this ridiculous soap opera.

That’s true about Eve. When she received the Sarah Siddons award, with the audience in awe of her, wasn’t she starring in Lloyd’s new production?
Anyway, with today’s audience eager to give input, they should bring back ‘You’re the one that I want’ or whatever that gave Laura Osnes her start…..or maybe there’s a better example. Faye Dunaway’s show?

Interesting fact...the actress who played Eve Harrington in the movie took over the lead as Margo on Broadway~
Everyone is either an Eve Harrington person or a Steve Harrington person, never both.

I think both pearl-clutching comparisons to Eve Harrington and outright dismissals of Benko's ambition both miss the idea. Benko has been given a huge opportunity that it seemed like she never would have had in her career (I saw her in Rags at Theatreworks SV a few years ago and she didn't exactly stand out even in a mid-tier regional theatre). She even got her own feature in the New York Times. Of course she's going to milk this for all it's worth -- she'd be stupid not to -- and certainly won't turn down any praise that says she's better than the either lead of the show. But she's doing this to advance her own career, not tear anybody else down — she saw an opportunity and she took it. No malicious intent required: just a smart woman who seized her chance when she had it.
I'm curious if there might be a sort of "Fanny Brice passing of the torch" at Julie's last performance before Lea Michele takes over. It would make for good publicity if L.M. would appear at the end of that performance and J.B. gives her some sort of memento related to Fanny. I don't know if this scenario is within the realm of possibility, but it crossed my mind.

Girlie LITERALLY said "I've gotta try once, I've gotta fly once, .... I gotta have my BITE , sir. " And she left nary a crumb behind.

I’d be very surprised if this happened. I think the “passing of the torch” type moment is more common when a major star who has been celebrated and become synonymous for a role blesses their replacement. If I were Lea, I don’t think I’d want my standby bequeathing me anything except the promise to take it easy on social media and stay out of the press.

There will be no passing the torch. That’s never happened ever. And Julie is still with the show. This is just show business

Haven't you heard? The day will be declared a national holiday by President Biden, the Mayor of New York City will issue a proclamation declaring it Julie Benko Day, Jordan Roth will announce that the August Wilson Theatre will heretofore be known as the Julie Benko Theatre, and the theatre queens will organize a GD parade that will make Gay Pride look like a church social!!
