The guy sitting behind me at Carrie a few weeks ago apparently worked on the production in some capacity and didn't have much faith in it but was singing the set's praises. Something about a thrust stage and stairs to the balcony. I thought it sounded a little far-fetched. Can anyone elaborate?
Have they decided to throw in the towel already?
[he] worked on the production in some capacity and didn't have much faith in it but was singing the set's praises.
Some would say that it was a LEAP of faith. Am I right?
(sorry, couldn't resist)
I was there and just got out. The set DID stop working for like five whole minutes and people (NOT ACTORS THANK YOU FOR RUINING THE EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND HAVING TECH CREW ON STAGE!!) came out and got it working again. The tent wouldn't turn around and people were all talking and on their phones and they didn't even offer us tickets for another performance.
Seriously, how can just stop the show and not give me my money back. I paid to see actors on that stage not some tech people.
Does being in previews make it alright for stuff like this to happen and them to expect audiences to understand?
Jordan, I wish there were a "like" button on BWW the way there is one on Facebook. That last post deserves a "like".

Using tking's horrible experience at LA CAGE recently, follow his example and write to the producers and DEMAND a refund. You'll get results!
I mean, I literally KNOW someone who auditioned for that show so it's really close to me and means a lot. This was just totally unacceptable and yeah, it did ruin my night.
I was at the Best Man on Tuesday the day after it opened and their set malfunctioned and they finished the scene then closed the curtain for an intermission...my experience was after the opening and would qualify for a refund, but being previews no yours does not qualify for a refund...for example the second preview of Beauty and the Beast lasted 6 hours due to technical difficulties and no refunds were given...going to a preview performance you guaranteed your money back if anything goes wrong or even if they cancel the performance mid show...because that is why it is called a preview it is not going to be perfect....which is why there was a big to-do last year when Spiderman's commercials as well as other advertisements failed to mention the show was still in previews
And A LIKE for Dollypop's post as well!
Ugh, they need to put something in the programs that this could happen cuz it RUINED MY EXPERIENCE!
Jordan, stick up for your rights.
There's nothing we can do. They can do whatever they want and we're basically and LITERALLY powerless. And what about the people who second acted? They must think the whole show is like that. That's just bad business on the producers part.
Wow, this sounds worse than SPIDER-MAN's first preview set problems...

With all due respect, I totally get what you're saying and why you're bummed... BUT... remember, it's LIVE THEATRE. Things happen. That's the magic of it all. It's not a film, or a tv show that can be edited. Most theatre people know that stuff happens during previews and its all about working out the kinks, which is why some shows having slightly lower prices during previews. In the future, just wait until after opening, then you'll be less likely to be as tragically upset as you seem to be.
I don't care if it's live theater or prerecorded theater, this never should have happened. Those ugly men I had to look at for five minutes hurt my eyes and then they just expect me to forget and be all like "I'm just gonna jump right back into this story cuz like nothing happened!"
YEAH. RIGHT.

Was using the word "cuz" a tip off?
I fell for it hook and line, but had cottoned on by sinker.
How could ANYONE think that Jordan was being serious? God, the intellect (or lack thereof) of some people on here is astounding to me.
