re: Legally Blonde - The Musical - Savoy Theatre

I loved it. Totally didn't expect to.
Sheridan and alex are just wonderful and sooo lovable and fun.

Loads of hiccups with the set, the house didn't lift at the start so the show stopped and restarted 10mins later, the benches got stuck in court and the salon is shakier than the worst amateur panto.

But the cast are terrific, all the movement was really tight given it's only the second day. That skipping whilst singing is mighty impressive.

The rat dog got stage fright and refused to come on at the end but the rest of the cast seemed to enjoy it.

"I am nearly tempted to see this now!"

If you did not see it in New York, Phantom, it is worth seeing - though it's far from brilliant. I enjoyed it when I saw it - but not enough to want to pay to see it again. I much preferred it to Hairspray - though that's not saying much coz I detested that LOL.

re: Legally Blonde - The Musical - Savoy Theatre

I saw this on Saturday night and found it much slicker than I was expecting. I was really impressed with Sheridan Smith who, as CONAries said, has obviously spent a lot of time connecting with the character. She sings and dances very well but it is her comedic chops which really makes her performance 'so much better' than any other Elle I've seen. You can't help but warm to her and I'm glad she had shed the nerves which seemed to inhibit her during the CIN performance.

Other standouts for me were Alex Gaumond as Emmett, Jill Halfpenny as Paulette and Chris Ellis-Stanton as Kyle. A very hard-working and well-drilled ensemble too.

There was only one set malfunction that I noticed and, although it's obviously scaled down, it still works well given the limitations of the venue.

I was sat in Row M on the far right and had a perfect view of proceedings. Jerry Mitchell was sat right behind me too, so I guess Row N can be considered a good choice for seeing everything in its entirety (though he is about 8ft tall, so probably doesn't have much problem seeing over the heads of the people in front)!

I'll definitely be trying for lottery tickets for this in the next few weeks to see how it's bedded in.

Is it confirmed yet how many seats will be allocated in the lottery and where they'll be located?

Given the reaction from audiences in the first few previews I think it might prove a very popular draw!

I won a lottery seat yesterday and was put on the front row...not bad at all for a tenner! I think they put a few winners up in the circle as well.

I LOVED it. Love Sheridan, love Alex, love Aoife (that girl has some serious abs from all that skipping - apparently they had to do 45 mins of skipping warm-up at the start of every rehearsal).

Hopefully, I'll be seeing this in just a couple of months. I'm thrilled to hear the positive response to Sheridan as she's really the reason for my seeing the show again, though I admit when I saw it on Broadway, I had a great time. Where is the stage door for the Savoy located? I rarely stage door any more, but this is a case where I might want to snag a photo op.

re: Legally Blonde - The Musical - Savoy Theatre

Thought this production was just GREAT. After seeing Sister Act this year and being disappointed, this really lived up to my expectations.

Smith was utterly charming as Elle and has great comic timing and seems to have worked so hard on the character. The sets, I admit, were not the best, but the ensemble, score and whole production makes up for it.

Also, I don't know why everyone doesn't like the Savoy as a theatre, true, it's smaller and doesn't boast great things, but it's perfectly fine as a theatre - i've definately been in worse!

For the first week, The show was outstanding and everyone seemed on top form! If the first week is anything to go by, things should go just fine! The cast are all excellent and the concept/music&Lyrics are great!

The few changes in lines/Ireland didn't make much difference and people laughed a lot on these changed lines which I just found funny.

A definate must! Smith should win something for her role, but no doubt, will be overlooked for more "serious" performances. I hope this lasts, the audiences reaction was really good, but I'm not sure if it can last....

GO SEE IT!

re: Legally Blonde - The Musical - Savoy Theatre

Passed into Fanboy teritory today as I entered the lottery and saw it twice in one day!!!! Front row both times, my face is hurting so much from smiling. Best £20 I have ever spent in my life!

I wasnt going to see it twice but my friend was in London and wanted to see it. I think this is now my favourite show. I even liked Duncan today! The whole cast has grown on me so much and are just going to get better and better.

Btw, both times pretty much everyone won the lottery, so if ur willing to risk it give it a try!

Good to hear Mark, and glad you had such a good day. re: Legally Blonde - The Musical - Savoy Theatre

I suspect the lottery for this show may get progressively harder to win. I'm not expecting great reviews but the word-of-mouth should stand it in excellent stead and among its target audience it should be very popular. I've already recommended it to several friends who have tweenage girls. And I definitely want to see it again - lots of pluses for me, very few minuses and I wish all involved every success.

I know it's early days but:

1. Any knowledge of a cast recording, I know they porbaly won't do one?

2. They are currently booking through March right?

re: Legally Blonde - The Musical - Savoy Theatre

well i was thinking...with all the lyric changes and the fact that there's a few C-D List names in it..they might actually make a cast recording. I'd deffinitely buy it, even though i've got the OBC, i'd love to have the OLCR as well!

re: Legally Blonde - The Musical - Savoy Theatre

Whoever was asking about stage door, I went on Sunday and they have signs out the front of the theatre now. I saw Sheridan, Duncan and Alex signing there, I'm not sure about any others.
