I never thought I'd come to hate the term "freedom of speech".
But this summer has certainly pushed me to the limit on that.
Have all the free speech. Say whatever tactless, ill-based, backwards, stupid-assed thing you want.
But prepare for the goddamn consequences.

In my opinion, this blog entry is as stupid. What a f**cking let down, that girl.
She is passionate about her family, her career, her fiancé and her religion. She does not believe in gay marriage.

"When Sarah & Todd Palin bought food and tweeted photos of it at Chick-fil-A last week, they were not acting from love, they were acting from hate and opposition."
But when little miss Bailey does it, it is because she is a sweet southern lady with her core values (and a fiance she conveniently gets to marry)?
"I don’t think Bailey Hanks is truly AGAINST gay people, but I think the people she is looking to for guidance and inspiration aren’t showing her what to be FOR."
Because she's 5 years old and doesn't have the capability to make up her own mind about right and wrong. C U Next Tuesday, Bailey.
I still haven't heard an apology from her...
Didn't she tweet a lot of apologies before saying we should all "move on"?

I just don't understand how someone can take the time to post themselves eating this crap on the very day it's supposed to be incendiary and then get all Urkely about it. "Did I do that?" Own your sh*t or don't step into the fray. It's as disingenuous as the wrapping it up in the First Amendment crap. And then to just delete the entire Twitter account. If the gay people DID make this girl, as the Advocate suggests, then we failed miserably.
And like everyone said, that Morgan Karr blog thing was horrifying. That other one was bad, too. He stressed "we are not are beliefs" and I keep thinking, aren't we? Don't Christian people tend to define themselves by that and those beliefs? I think I am my beliefs. I can't speak for Bailey.
At the end of the day, I don't even give two fuhcks about gay marriage. I'm just tired of people using it as excuse to spit out all this neo-hompohbia that's developing as of late. I saw a Facebook group called Enough is Enough: Stop Homosexual Promotion. I mean, seriously?
Freedom of speech is one of my core values. But freedom of speech isn't the end of any discussion. It's the beginning. It doesn't mean that everyone's going to say "Oh, how wonderful, she exercised her freedom of speech, so never mind that I hate the content of what she said. Or tweeted. Or Facebooked. Or gave millions of dollars to support." Dan Cathy and Bailey Hanks exercised their freedom of speech. And then so did other people. That's the way it works.
But it is beyond bizarre that that a "Stand With Chick-fil-A" ad by the National Organization for Marriage is showing up on the right side of my BWW message board screen right now. Thanks, but absolutely no thanks.
I guess I don't know as much about the issue, but how can we truly take a stand against a company that actually admits their core values? Plenty of CEOs feel the same, they just don't say anything so as to not lose our business. Here is a company that outright states their beliefs and gives you the option to therefore support them or not. It is not an admirable trait to have, but at least it is honest.
If the CEO had said, "I believe that black people should still be enslaved," would you be saying, "He's honest! I support him for that!"?
I don't have to respect someone for having backwards, bigoted, hateful opinions.
Finally, this is the most important part: it's not just an opinion. The company and the founder have given tons of money to organizations that are actively fighting for gays to remain second-class citizens at best, criminals to be put to death at worst. Those donations come from the profits of sales of chicken sandwiches. If I don't want to support those causes, I won't give them my profits.
Yeah bur you have to respect him for that and stuff!!!

Again, it's not about the personal opinion of top executives but what organizations they support with the profits. Bill Marriott, for example, is personally against gay marriage but made a decision not to use his company profits to donate to Prop 8. (and Marriott the company has a pretty good record in regards to gay employees)

I don't give a flying squirrel what the man thinks or believes, I care what he does. No one's told him not to SPEAK. As was so brilliantly stated on HuffPost, this isn't a difference of opinion about where a school should be built, this is first and foremost about real lives and taking action to beat down a group of people. This man actually donates money and in-kind support to designated hate groups (just because you agree with them does not mean it isn't hate) that knowingly lie and slander a group of people, that try to ignore campaign / finance laws in their efforts to attack people and who has donated CORPORATE DOLLARS in support of the Kill-the Gays Bill in Uganda. The man committed corporate money to support murdering gay men and women. NOT A SPEECH ISSUE.
I am horribly offended at how people in our country think that if they scream "Freedom of Speech" and clutch a Bible while claiming "Freedom of Religion" they get a free pass for whatever hate filled thing they do. You want to hate the gays as a part of your religion? Fine.. go do it in your church, but leave me and the laws of this nation out of it.
I know many of you are offended, but I can't be bothered to care about the opinions of someone who wields such indiscernible levels of power, influence or talent. She was already never going to work in this town again; it's a real shame that she has this Fast Food Waterloo to make her look like a career martyr for her beliefs. Let's let Ms. Hanks shrink back into the obscurity from whence she crawled, and return to making sweet protest love and picking out china patterns with our boyfriends, yes?

Well, due to Bailey Hanks and the millions who think like her, I live in a state where the event that comes after picking out a china pattern is illegal.
She just posted her farewell to Facebook, pleading ignorance to the reason for Chik-Fil-A Appreciation Day:
I have decided to delete this page, it will deactivate in 14 days...but before I do I would like to share my heart to those who do not know me and only seen or heard things from other people. At the time the chicken was only chicken to me and while in rehearsal and shows at the time I was not properly informed on what was going on. I was unaware of the BIG picture. With that being said I had poor timing. But I am a Christian, but a Christian to me is not a religion or a denomination, it is a relationship with my lord and savior Jesus Christ. And my Lord said to love everyone even those who hate you. And that I live by. I have my beliefs as a Christian and I hope you can accept that, as I accept you! If you want to marry whomever you want... Who am I to stop you? Go! Live! Be merry! I have friends who are married and they are gay, friends who are gay and engaged and I couldn't be more happy for them and they know that. These ppl have reached out to me and know my heart. My intentions are never malicious, and I have never rooted for others unhappiness in their life. I hope this clears up any unanswered questions, and I hope you can please step back and let this all go and let me live a peaceful life without hate.... As I want the same peace for you!
Thank you for hearing me out! Much love to everyone!
Xoxo

PLEASE, GAY PEOPLE WHO LIVES IN A COUNTRY WITH 30+ ANTI-GAY STATE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS, LET THE HETEROSEXUAL CHRISTIAN GIRL LIVE IN PEACE! SHE IS THE REAL VICTIM HERE.
My heart bleeds for her.
Hopefully there will be a Joes Pub benefit in the coming weeks.

"Enough is Enough: Stop Homosexual Promotion." And yet they can't even dream up a name without including the title of a famous Barbra Streisand/Donna Summer duet. They would be LOST without the gays.

Guys, she has gay friends.
What more do you need to hear
Updated On: 8/11/12 at 12:48 PM
Yeah, guys. She has a gay maid, of course she's not faggotphobic!
The big revelation was that she had no idea what was going on in the country because she was so busy with rehearsals and shows!
I mean, I'm not surprised she doesn't open a newspaper or watch the news.
But this thing permeated all social media. It was impossible to even glance at a Facebook feed without some mention of it.
Dear World:
I am not a bigot. I am just an adult idiot woman who goes along with the crowd and if I hear chicken and christians, I'm there!
Sorry.
Love...
I feel much better about her now.
And I mean, DUH y'all! She like totally posts pictures of Chick-Fil-A every day so this was just like bad timin' an' all!!!
