Lehman Trilogy going to Bway?

Here's a New York Times article announcing it will be at the Park Ave Armory next spring March 22- April 20, 2019. Pretty cool! I'll admit I was hoping for a National theatre live showing in cinemas sometime this month due to the 10th anniversary of the bankruptcy but having this play come here to NYC is even better! :)

It also says tickets go on sale on Wednesday... so I'm guessing that's today but I haven't seen anything on the Park Ave armory website. I look forward to seeing this play!

What's even more exciting is Ben Miles, Simon Russell Beale, and Adam Godley are coming with it!

It looks like it's basically using Yerma's set from the Armory.

Sad state of Broadway plays when an acclaimed National Theatre production with great reviews and a wholly transferable review from Ben Brantley can;t do a commercial run, or even an extended limited run, on Broadway.

This. It’s a three person play and it’s almost 3 and a half hours long. It’s a tough sell for a Broadway run. I’m sure it will sell out and be a huge success at The Armory.

You may be too young to remember, but ten years ago this play, despite it's length, with this pedigree, would have EASILY had at the very least a limited commercial run on Broadway.

Sad state of Broadway, but not for New York theater -- if it's coming to New York anyway, who gives a flick about Broadway? Broadway's been "dead" for serious think pieces for years, other than one or two exceptions per year. You'll still get to see it if you just head to a smaller theater.

The video gives an idea on how it's staged in London but not sure how it will be in the Park Avenue Armory.

Though not exactly the same but it reminds me of the seating chart at Hairy Ape from early last year. Below is what the seats (stadium style) looked like at Hairy Ape and perhaps LEH trilogy will have something similar:

I agree -- this year is a pretty strong season for new plays compared to other years. I just get annoyed when people are like "Why isn't this on broadway?" as if they'll only see a show if it's a Broadway show. If you're interested and in New York, you can still go -- and it'll probably be a little cheaper too. Go! Broadway may be the be-all-end-all for producers, but it shouldn't be for audience members.

i could see the reasoning behind not going straight to broadway with this, after ENRON flopping as bad as it did, the National maybe nervous to try and do a straight up transfer of this considering the subject matter, however if it sells well enough and the reviews are good I could see this coming back the following season, also with Network already on the books they probably dont want to have two of their productions competing with each other for awards.

Do we think this is going to sell out? I'm conflicted. Hairy Ape was pretty easy to get tickets of during the run, and same with Yerma (which even popped up on TDF!) But then Ivo's show The Damned sold out so quickly.

I ask, because as a frequent Armory visitor with shallow pockets, their ticket prices are INSANE unless you sit in the back corner of the very large seating rig. Having looked at videos of the show in London, this is an incredibly small show, which looks like it would do much better in The Booth, not the Armory. So if I can wait and save up or get a discount code, that'd be amazing. Thoughts?
