So sad to see her go but does anyone have any idea who's replacing her? I can't think of anyone who could pull it off as well as Lena did!
Call me crazy (I know she's not even available), but I'd love to see Annaleigh Ashford take on the role. I think it would be interesting.

Interesting choice. I can see it and I'm sure she'd be great!

Great choice! I would see her. Today we should hear the official news and I'm sure it won't disappoint. No one's been disappointed in the Hedwig casting, so I know they will do well with the Yitzhak casting!
I just hope we're not disappointed by Darren Criss like I fear some people, myself included might be.

You've really kept your finger on the pulse.
Well, Lights, you are correct :)
Lift up your hands! Rebecca Naomi Jones is @HedwigonBway's new Yitzhak! @Rebeccasername

I wonder how or if they'll change the script?
(I think she'll be great, but am curious as to whether they'll change the backstory.)

I LOVED her in Passing Strange. Now I'm dying to see her as Yitzblack.

She is an excellent choice. She is always the highlight of whatever show she's in.

Why would they change his history, just because she's black? I hope they don't change anything.

JCM can be pretty politically incorrect in the role. hedwig is not a character who is afraid of making offensive remarks. there's already an obama joke (albeit not race-related) and several jokes about yitzhak's jewish background during the show. i don't think JCM would let the opportunity go by to make a racial reference if it helped show the antagonistic relationship between the characters and how cruel hedwig can be.

It's not like John Cameron Mitchell is "being politically incorrect." Hedwig is torturing Yitzhak with all the "German and the Jew" references.
"Yitzblack." You win.
She is going to be phenomenal, and I can't wait.

You know Rebecca is half Jewish, right?

As it's her mother who is Jewish, technically she's full Jewish, not half. I am super excited about this, she's fantastic and I'm sure will be great in this role.
It really doesn't matter what ethnicity the actress is. She's playing a character who's Jewish. Thus the text doesn't have to change unless the author wants to.

Did this idea of the back history changing seriously come because Yitzhak is Jewish? Like did the poster above not know that black people can be Jewish? lol
