Has this been posted yet? It was on the Universal Awards site. Cause if this is true I'm happy!
I thought the same thing, why would that affect you?
As an adult, I only think about ratings when it comes to my children's films, and as they are older, that comes into play less and less.

You need to see more movies.
The reason it makes me happy is because after reading the script that was posted on the site I thought it was going to get an R rating! THAT'S WHY!!
Are you THAT young that you wouldn't be able to see a rated R movie?
Good god.
Not really I'm in my early twenties. I'm perfectly fine with R-rated movies. FOR THE LOVE OF PETE!!! I saw "Sweeney Todd" the movie when it first came out and I saw it on Christmas Day my freshman year in community college. It's just I don't think Les Mis should be rated R the only things that would considered R-rated would be Lovely Ladies and Master of the House but that's it all in all it's PG-13 rated. Therfore I think PG-13 is perfectly fine. That's all
You're a college student?!! You come across so infantile!
Did anyone think it would be anything other than PG-13?
Jesus Christ, people! I think ILOHTFAHA (Aida Man) is happy it didn't get an R-rating, not for himself, but for the movie's sake. If a film receives a PG-13 rating, its chances of succeeding at the box office are generally greater than if it were R-rated; more people (teens) not needing parental supervision. I know there was some concern about that from other Les Miz fans.
An "R" rating for a musical is basically a death sentence. Fact is, most studios would want NOTHING to do with it. There are exceptions, South Park and Mormmon. But make no mistake, this film has to be below R.

I feel like anyone who read that screenplay and thought it would be rated R hasn't seen many movies.
The Alot is Better Than You at Everything
I haven't read the screenplay, but there isn't anything in the musical that would warrant an R rating.
R-rated movies simply have a harder time in terms of reaching an audience and some people actually avoid movies based on ratings, either to keep their kids from watching it or because they think their values will be somehow offended, or whatever. Given that LES MIZ is trying to appeal to a family audience (and Tom Hooper already experienced issues with the MPAA when THE KING'S SPEECH was rated R just because of how many times they say the word "Fvck," ridiculous), the studio would be unhappy with an R-rating. I think that this is where the original post was coming from.
From a script with countless uses of "whore" in it, I'm surprised this isn't rated R.

If a big-budget big-studio movie wants to be PG-13, it'll be PG-13. See also: Titanic, complete with topless Kate Winslet.
Les Miserables wants to be viewable by families, but not get the juvenile associations of a PG rating. PG-13 is where it lives.
Children under 13 shouldn't be exposed to belting.
I'm not surprised it's PG-13 at all. There's nothing in there that should warrant an R rating. Chicago and Moulin Rouge were both PG-13 and did just fine.
