Les Mis cast 2006

I have heard from a friend of mine who works on Broadway (Merwin Foard, the current Sweeney standby) that Alexander Gemignani will play Valjean and Eden Espinosa will play Fantine. There were a few other names announced, but I don't remember who.

Alex as Valjean? Hm....Weird.

And Espinosa as Fantine, rather than eponine? I don't know. Until I have proof I'm steering clear of the rumors circulating.

...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

I was as perplexed as you when I heard it from Merwin. But I think they are having some people from the tour as Eponine, Cosette, the younger versions of those two and Gavroche.

Whatever happened to their "All Star Cast?" No offense to Espinosa and Gemignani, but they aren't really "All Stars" yet.

I dont know the show that well, but from what I do know about the show, doesnt Espinosa fit the role of Eponine WAY better than Fantine?

Um...since these names have not been officially released, don't ya think it might be a little bit of a no-no to associate your friend's name with your leaking the info? Just saying, always best to stick with an 'anonymous source'.

Eden Espinosa as Fantine? Are you kidding? I'm not questioning her talent--she's just not the right type. She would be much better for Eponine.

Both those names have been brought up before though - as well as Lea Michele as Eponine (which, if they're casting that young, makes Eden make a little more sense)

Now what would you say if today I started over? Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover And I'll pretend like everything is already alright And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight

Of course they've been mentioned before...I just wouldn't attach a known working actor to that info.

Why don't they just do the whole thing with puppets?

Well, I too had heard the Eden as Fantine rumor, so I checked up on it. A friend who is working with her now asked her and she said it was offered to her, but it didn't work out...something during negotiations I believe.

And yes, a several people from the tour will be in the ensemble and understudying roles in the new production. Not as many as you would think though.

Les Muppetables?

Cute, but I prefer Les Marionettes. Let's give this the European flare it so deserves. If we can't have "stars" let us have strings.

Not to sound declasse' but puppets and marionettes are not the same. Marionettes haven't had the same kind of success that puppets have had on Broadway. I think it would be to risky. And I'd be too afraid that during One Day More that all those strings could get intertwined. Although it would be fun to watch a Marius Marionnete. And just imagine the stringed army flying through the air during the attack on the rue plumet!

Plus the movement of the turntable. That would spell disaster with the marionettes!

One string caught in the turntable would be enough to take them all down like bowling pins.

Where's your sense of adventure? Fantine floating off to heaven... a soaring suicide for Javert...imagine an airborne Norm! Valjean vaulting over the barricades to save marionette Marius.
Why, they could even re-name a luxury hotel for the run, the Marionette Marquis.

I like her, but Eden is COMPLETELY wrong for Fantine. In every way. I want to see Carolee as Fantine, but am really excited to see who gets the role. I really hope they consider Jill Paice, from Woman In White,as Cosette because she was absolutely AMAZING in the role.

I'm not gonna believe anything, or get into any huge arguments over who should play who, until the official cast list has been posted, otherwise it's too much of a hassle. Though, cough *Edenwouldn'tbegood*
