The Bring Back Birdie recording is one of my most prized posessions...especially since it's signed by Chita Rivera, Maurice Hines, Jeb Brown and Cleve Asbury.
Well if anything was signed by chita rivera it wouldnt be bad at all but the actual score and show is total crap and Lestat lasted longer. I think that there are more Lestat fans than we really know about. Unless all of BWW is posting on YOUTUBE how they miss Lestat and wished they coulda seen it again or missed it then I think the CD should be released. I really think when the CD comes out there will be a big cult following.
I was just browsing Amazon...how is it that Bingo The Musical can get a Cast Recording but Lestat and Threepenny cannot? *sigh*
I know the answer - it's money. It's just unfortunate that we won't have the music to appreciate and share for years to come.

and when you key in Lestat, there is an August date.
Is my interpretation correct, it will be released in Germany? Thanks

This is the same site that said it would be released in July. Notice that they don't give a specific date so I wouldn't count on getting it in August. If the cast doesn't know about any release date, then it's not coming anytime soon.
but if its a question of money it costs money to have the actors come in and record so why pay for that if it wont be released. I really think it might sell decently, it will have a cult following mark my words.
soundofmusic.de's customer service told me they weren't giving any reason for the delay when they pushed it back to August. Even with all the negativity and uncertainty, it's there #2 seller right now due to the pre-orders.
I personally think there's just enough interest in this to release it. A lot of the people who are asking about it are not the fans who did see the show, but people who really wanted to but didn't have a chance when it closed. Some of them had tickets, some had waited because it opened at a time when they had things like college and such to deal with.
I know last month I was waiting for a friend outside the Palace and the signs were still up. If I had a penny for everyone...mostly tourists...who say the signs and walked up to the door to either find out more or go in and see about tickets...I'd have almost enough money to finance the release,
I have said this a hundred times but it will sell really well. If people didnt see it they will buy the cd. People saw it and many including me actually liked it. I know im buying that cd and I think a big following will come from the cd. I also think it really didnt wait to find an audience. I think yes changes needed to be made but if it meant staying open there would have been changes made and I think it could have lasted a little longer.
Cult followings dont necessarily mean there will be a large interest generated. Large interests are things that have been broadcast at the Tony's or had some other broad exposure. Many people could've cared less about Lestat.
Exactly. Lestat has a very, very vocal following, but how many of you are there, anyway? Not that many. Not enough to convince WB and Mercury to get off the fence.
