Well Cast Albums, like you said, aren't moneymakers in the first place and I'm sure Warner Bros knew that going in, so I don't understand how they'd be shocked by the costs.

LOL, sh*t musical, sh*t music and lyrics, yet there are fools who want a cd. oh btw HUGH PANARO SUCKS!
HUGH PANARO DOES NOT SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is an amazing performer. You hold your g-d damn tounge! The show isnt great but Hugh Panaro and the rest of the cast was too.
Uh, wow.
Take your meds this morning? Either of you?
I am willing to buy the CD just for those few songs that I really liked. It's a shame not to make a CD for a musical because it would just prove to some people that musicals are stupid (not the main reason...).

I really like "I Want More." That is a great song and girl sings it so well. I just want a recording so I can hear the score. Some of us weren't lucky/unfortunate enough to hear this score.
Not on WEA's b2b ste, so I'd say it's pretty doubtful for August, too....

It would be a shame not to release it, hopefully if people make a lot of noise about it something could happen. I havn't given up hope on this recording yet

I don't know about that, there are a lot more fans than you would think when you look at this board.
Judging by the search terms in the site stats report for Hugh's site (and these aren't hits generated by the diehard group at the message board since they know where the site is and don't need to google for it), there's a good amount of interest...

Dance of the vampires and carrie had its fair share of fans to but they issnt a cast recording for them.
Record companys relese albums to make money and have it appeal to a vast amount of people, lestat's press was awfull and lets face it so were a lot of the songs.I can see why the record company would be having doubts as it costs a lot of money to put a cd out.
Okay, now I'm confused---exactly what label was supposed to release the cd?
Mercury.
"Mercury."
Thanks---I'll check the UMG b2b site!
Nothing there either (I have a new release list going into November, and there is nothing mentioned--- I doubt this is coming out
)

west end artist - besides the fact that Carrie closed so fast and garnered most of its fans through the bootlegs that exist, the show was never recorded. Meaning there is no recording to release.

Exactly, the difference is, this show has been recording. I'm surprised Elton John hasn't stepped up and gotten it released. They could do something like Harry Connick, Jr. Do an "Elton on Broadway."
At least some kind of official statement should come out.
That's my biggest complaint, Phantom2. If it's delayed, so be it. If it's shelved, so be it.
But an actual official confirmation would be nice.
I'm getting tired of incoming e-mails to Hugh's site asking me why it wasn't released yesterday since the cast was told July 11 and that's what they repeated to people at the stage door during the final few days.
I just left Sir Elton a message.

Here I come to save the day!!!
Hi all. Sorry I have been away fromt he boards. I am in rehearsal for The Rivals at the SHakespeare Theatre of NJ and that has kept me pretty busy. SOme other possibilities brewing, too, but I will wait to see what shakes down before saying anything. DOn't want to jinx.
SO here's the deal about the cd, at least from my perspective.
Rumor #1: That it won't come out. I have no idea. We'll just have to wait and see. I wouldn't blame them either way, as there is probably not enough of a market (beyond our die-hard fans) to justify the expense of releasing it.
Rumor #2: That WB is trying to stiff the actors. Totally false. I got paid this week. As someone else mentioned - we did the work, they HAVE to pay us. That is the deal with the unions. WB has been nothing but faithful to their word as far as payment goes, from day one...at least as far as I am concerned. Bravo to them.
Hope you all are well and hope to be back in a Bway show soon. Fingers crossed.
Oh, and ajayspak, if you even knew Hugh Panaro for ten seconds you would know how utterly lame your statement about him is. That you even burned the calories required to type something so hateful is really a shame. May you never know what it is to have your hard work judged so publicly.

Yay for Steve! Thanks for clearing up some of the confusion, and congratulations on "The Rivals!"
I really don't see what the point was to have the cast record it and not release it. And hell, If BRING BACK BIRDIE has a recording Lestat deserves one. Maybe to save money for not having a huge market they should maybe sell the CD to like Itunes and Amazon.com so we can get it but they dont trouble themselves mass prodcuing it.
