There's like 40,000 threads on this topic. People have been counting down the seconds until this broadcast since the show was taped several months ago.
its not airing in texas until tomorrow.
40,000 threads? Probably true.
Taped several months ago? False. It's "LIVE from Lincoln Center."

I apologize, I was mistaken. I thought I recalled a discussion recently in which the show had been taped for this broadcast. Perhaps I am just recalling when it was announced that the show would be broacast, which in any case, was several months ago.
Its not live? That's a little dissapointing. I wish that if it wasn't live they could have atleast taped the original cast. But oh well, I am still counting down the seconds until this broadcast.

i swear i read an article with the producer in charge of the tv broadcast that was linked in the news section here about how it definitely is live and he was doing run throughs with the cameras at the Tues and Weds shows because he only had one shot on Thurs night to get the cameras angles right. He even mentioned he was setting them up at row H and there would also be a boom camera. There was also something about how there would be a 15 min intermission included as they debated about running the show straight thru for the live broadcast.

DO you think PBS might possibly release this on DVD?

I'm so excited. I'm sort of glad it isn't the OBC. I already know what they sound like thanks to the recording, I want to hear a new interpretation (even if it's not as good). It's so excited. My PBS here is sorta crappy, but I'll just have to get through it.
It is live. Because I know people who bought tickets for tonight and made sure that it was being broadcast live tonight.

Its definitely Live, they are taping tonight and I think it will be a bit odd for the cast with all the lights up. It is playing at different times on differents PBS stations, so it is easiest to go to pbs.org and put in your zip code for the scheduling of it.

Yes it defintely live becuase there was an article in my local paper stating that it may start a few minutes late because the curtain does not always go up on time. Also they have produced a featurette on the actors and how they make the hat "fly" to be shown during intermission. I'm so excited. YAY!!!! Finally, some good TV.

Is it running exactly two hours (8PM-10PM??), I am going to be out of the house tonight so my VCR is programmed to record, I don't want to miss the end or something if the show is scheduled to run later (I do have the tape set to stop at 10:30 right now)

Go to PBS.org to make sure, but I'm pretty sure it's running
8-10 (or 7-9 central)
colleen_lee: The show is running from 8:00 to 10:30 P. M.
I can't wait for this show to air. It is one of the best scores
I've ever heard in my life, and the set design is also very impressive. I have been thinking about whether I should see the show again to check in on the new cast, especially Katie Clarke, as I saw it with the original cast. Now I don't have to do that!
It;s suppose to be 146 minutes. Which is 2 hours & 26 min.
In case people are still trying hard to figure it out. Click the link, then "check local listings", then pop in your zip.
Some have said this is not entirly reliable, so I also waited until just before the top of the hour, changed the channel to PBS, and promptly saw a commercial stating the appropriate time (at which point I spazzes out and nearly died).
your local listings
Not all PBS stations are showing it tonight. The Seattle station has it Sunday afternoon at 2 for example. And in case your recording doesn't go the first time check the station's schedule as it seems most stations are doing an overnight repeat sometime in the following week.
The show is listed as LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTRE and some TV listings do not indicate what the feature is. It is a 2 and 1/2 hour program on the schedule.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Is Michael Berresse really in it? Shouldnt he be in SF- the ACL rehearsals start today.
Our PBS station isn't showing it until Sunday night at 8pm.... I'm really upset.
I assume that Michael Beresse will start ACL rehearsals on July 3rd...we've had no press release of any replacement.

Apparently ACL rehearsals do start today...but I know Tyler Hanes isn't expected to leave Hairspray until this weekend. Sunday night is his final performance. My guess is they are rehearsing in NYC for a while before going out to California?
Perhaps Michael Beresse is staying with Piazza for its final weeks while ACL rehearses in NYC. When do previews begin in San Francisco?
