Bump!
I like in Little Women during Jo's writing in the middle of Fire Within Me/Astonishing Reprise when she talks about each sister their theme plays under her dialogue.
"And if it wasn't for me, then where would you be, Miss Gypsy Rose Lee?" from Gypsy. It gives me chills on every recording.
Me too. Best. Line. Ever.

There's this moment in Sideshow during the last note of Who will love me as i am, when Daisy and Violet's vibrattos come together perfectly. It gives me chills everytime

When Anthony Rapp sings "But I am over her" in Christmas Bells in RENT.
YES! I love that line, and all the intricacies of that song - and the "fa la la la la you have the right to remain - silent night - o holy night" thing they do in the background, so great! took me a long time to be able to follow along to it, hehe
I adore the original version of "Poor Thing" with Angela Lansbury - the orchestration is great.
Ruthie Henshall on the Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert in London, at the end of "I Dreamed a Dream" when she sings "so different now from what it seems" that last note rises so beautifully into vibrato, and its so understated
I love Rex Harrison's "I'm an Ordinary Man" from My Fair Lady, and also the transition in "Ive Grown Accustomed to Her Face" when he sort of sing/speaks "her smiles, her frowns, her ups" and then sings "her downs...are second nature to me now" is SO great
I love Adam Pascal's Glory on the Rent movie soundtrack, particularly the note of "front-man" in the "pretty boy front man" line - the pitch is just so vulnerable sounding, it really picks up better than on the OBCR.
On the Wicked OBCR I love Carole Shelley's performance as Madame Morrible in the beginning of "The Wizard and I" - especially the "my dear, my dear" line. Her voice is just so great, and the song is like the tip of the iceburg for all the events of the show. And of course during "Defying Gravity" when Idina just busts out with "so if you care to find me, look to the western sky!"
I like Marni Nixon and Yul Brynner in "Shall We Dance" from the King and I, even tho its so cliche. I think she has a great voice though, and I love the part when they are dancing and he finally puts his arms around her and you can hear the hesitation in her voice
I could go on and on...I agree with most of the others that have been posted too!
I second whoever posted a few pages ago about being happy that other people care about these things too!
In Epiphany in OBC of Sweeney. "No nor ten men, nor a HUNNNNDRED" the music as h sings "Hundred." ARGGGGGG!!!!! Orgasm in a song right there.
I'll add more later
1. Shoshana's riff on "Bless the Lord" its Seth Rudetsky's favorite riff from her.
2. The high "Stand back" from Buenos Aires by Patti LuPone
3. The Overture of the Phantom of the Opera, for some reason, I always enjoy that.
4. The intro of "No Good Deed"

On the Grey Gardens OBCR, in Another Winter in a Summer Town, the harmony when they say "my season ended a long time ago." Absolutely stunning.

Okay, this topic was too amazing to pass up. I love it, because I started thinking about it and realized how many little moments I cherish from my recordings. So, I just picked a few.
First, from "Aspects of Love" when Rose convinces Alex to act out the play with her in Act 1, when they break into George's house and she tells him what part she wants him to play and he say "But I don't know anything about theatre." Michael Ball is so freaking adorable when he says that. I always play it twice. :)
Also, in "Chess," I think it's the Terrace Duet, when there's this beautiful part where they sing "I don't know why I can't think of anything. . . I would rather do, then be wasting my time with someone like you." I'm sorry, it's the recording with Judy Kuhn. It's just lovely.
At the end of "Miss Saigon" when Chris says "Please don't die" as he's holding Kim. It just destroys me every time. He sounds so scared and so like a little boy.
Someone mentioned Maureen McGovern in "Little Women" singing Days of Plenty. I second that. When I heard that for the first time, I could not believe the power in that song. It blew me away. I did not think it could be as powerful live. I thought there was no way she could pull of such strong notes live. All I have to say is BRAVO!!!
In "Side Show" during Tunnel of Love wen Alice Ripley sings "Where is mine?" It's so big. It's just amazing.
Finally, two from "The LAst 5 Years," since it is my favorite. Both Norbert. First when he sings, we're fine, we're fine, we're fine. . . . and on and on. When he gets to that last "fine" and he says it with such conviction, I just . . there are no words. Then in If I didn't Believe in You, when he says "I will not fail so you can be comfortable Cathy. I will not lose because you can't win." He sounds so angry and then it's followed by that pause, before he continues with the softer, "If I didn't believe in you. . ." The pause is what gets me every time. He just crossed the line and he knows it. The pause is his proverbial step back and then he comes back softer. I just love it.
Sigh. Good topic.
I have a few:
In Lippa's Wild Party during "Make Me Happy" right before Queenie starts her "Please make me laugh.." The way Julia Murney and Brian D'Arcy James scream their lungs out during the "Bursie Bursie Bursie.." and Burrs saying "WHAAAAAAAAT!?" I listen to that part over and over and over again and can't understand how they don't just tear their vocal cords apart doing that.
In The Last 5 Years, in "See I'm Smiling" right after Kathy's big fight that ends with "And I.." if you listen real close.. you can hear Sherie Rene Scott breathing so heavily and it sounds like she's crying. That part gets me every time. Makes me tear up a little
Finally
In Taboo, during "Freak/An Ode to Attention Seekers" Raul's humongous 3 octave (?) slide to that insanely high falsetto belt that he does. Followed by "I F***ING LOVE IT!" I love the slide, and I love how he says the line following it.
Sigh.
I love Raul.

Thurio's Samba is great....especially when you realize that their gibberish is not actually gibberish....

I love David Kernan's "No, no" in "You Must Meet My Wife" on "Side By Side By Sondheim".
The orchestra break from the 98 revival of Cabaret: in Willkommen, right after the Emcee says "Even the orchestra is beautiful". It got me when I saw the show, and gets me every time I listen to the recording.
In "The Next Ten Minutes" from The Last Five Years, when they both sing the "I do"s... gets me every time.

So what is it actually?

In the movie soundtrack of Cabaret - I love the end of the Money song, that little instrumental bit
- The "I dos" in "The Next Ten Minutes".
- In "Coffee" on the I Love You Because OOBCR: "so being CRAZY with coffee, is a useful skill to hone". I love the way she sings the word hone. I don't know why.
- "Touch Me" on Spring Awakening: "Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh oh OH MY GOD". Beautiful.
- "Passeggiata" from The Light in the Piazza: "Walk with me, in the place that I KNOW" Ahhhhhhh.

Here's another:
Last 5 years - at the end of "nobody needs to know" Norbert sings "since I need to be in love with someone, maybe I could be in love with someone like ....you" the last note never resolves itself. It completely embodies how bittersweet the moment is because he's ridden with guilt. Love it
The way Princeton says "Goodnight, Saigon" from Mix Tape in Avenue Q.
The "Though she was twenty-two, though she was twenty-two, though she was twenty-two" from At The Ballet in the ACL revival.
"You know what comes to my mind every time I see him?" "What?" "The Seagram's building. Isn't that funny?" from the original Company recording. I still laugh out loud every time I hear it. I'm laughing now.
Also the intro into "What Would We Do Without You?," from this timid, gentle little song into this huge explosion of brass.
Bernadette Peters on that final "Children Will Listen" on the original Into the Woods.
In the original cast of "Into the Woods", Bernadette Peters gives this little sigh in "Stay With Me" that just gets me.
In the original cast of "She Loves Me," when Barbara Cooks sings "when you raise the lid/the music plays" the way she sings "music" just fills the air like perfume.
My favorite line from Grey Gardens is from "Around the World,"
"A birdcage I plan to hang,
I'll get to that, someday.
A birdcage for a bird
Who flew away
Around the world". Never stops sending chills down my spine or a tear down my cheek.
You know what the character's thinking-so touching, poignant and tragic all at once.
