<------Kerry Butler in Hairspray {you can't stop the beat}. She has that quarky voice and says " I'm a checkerboard chick" and then belts out the rest of her part in a GREAT voice

ohhh man, where to begin:

lets see
-All of Coffee on the SWIWS recording, but especially the ending, starting with the first "I could use". Anyone who says idina's acting skills are anything less than remarkable clearly has not heard this song. Its SO good that I actually have a hard time listening to it. And its almost entirely because of how good idina is doing it; it could so easily be sung.. badly and not be emotional at all.
-The whole begining part of Rising Up in SWIWS. soooo gorgeous and sad at the same time. And the harmonies just give me chills
-In Last 5 Years, durring I'm Still Hurting, the way Sherie says "like its simple, like its right" just... oy. It gets me every time. Same goes for in See I'm Smiling with the whole getting angry in the end, and then "and I"... just wow.
-Last 5 Years again (because it really does have some of the best acting I've ever heard on a recording), in the end of If I Didn't Believe in You- "now why dont you put on your dress and we'll go. can we just do that? please? PLEASE?" and then that transition into I Can Do Better than That. Incredible.
-On both the RENT obcr and omps, Anthony's part of the mark/roger fight in goodbye love. I dont even know what it is...but he's just so. so. good in that part. Not that adam's not, but its just anthony makes you feel for mark so much at that point.
-On the Wedding Singer soundtrack, in Not That Kind of Thing; "it's true" "no, its scary" "no you're scary!" "YOU'RE scary!" so. effing. adorable its not even funny!! they've just got the cutest chemistry and it totally shows in that part <3

aaand there's so many more, but thats all I can think of for now haha

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

I've always liked Mary Bond Davis' delivery of "Step aside Miss Buttercup...it's time to wrap this mutha up!" during "You Can't Stop the Beat". As well as the moment during "The More You Ruv Someone" when Stephanie D'Abruzzo reacts to "They like two brothers who go on a date." "WHO?! What!?!"

The little dance break during "No More" in tick, tick...BOOM! When they take those two little breaks and Raul and Jerry start talking it cracks me up every time.

When Heather Headley says "Oh no Jimmy, I can handle her." during "It's All Over" on the Dreamgirls concert CD.

The way Kerry Butler says "I'll get the can!" during Suppertime II in Little Shop of Horrors.

"Who says you can't bend over backwards and eat bugs if you want to? I guess the bugs would probably say you can't do that that, but assuming that they are willing and consenting bugs, then there's no problem. Let's wig out eating bugs." -RuPaul

From Assassins Original Cast Recording, "November 22, 1963" when John Wilkes Booth is addressing the other "assassins" in the audience, I love the way Victor Garber says, "Of course, of course, Sihran Sihran!"

"Movies will make you famous; Television will make you rich; But theatre will make you good."--Terrence Mann

"Pretty much...if you've seen any shows that have a jerk boyfriend in that show...I'm that guy."--Richard H. Blake

Wow. So many I could put. I love the key change in "Shiksa Goddess" from The Last Five Years. The chorus of "Comfort and Joy" from Bat Boy. That part in "Christmas Bells" from Rent where everyone's singing together. I totally agree with "I just wanna up and vomit" from "Woe is Me" in Spelling Bee. Kristen Chenowith singing "My New Philosophy" from the YAGMCB revival, so adorable! Oh, there's that one part in "The More We Dance" from "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" where he goes "The question that the situation begs." and the music goes BUM BUM! and it just kinda makes me smile every time! So many more, but that's all that come to mind right now!

On the '98 Cabaret Revival recording;

During 'Money' when the Emcee says "Ha!"

I just love it.

It's one of those little things that you hear and it makes you giggle.

"Light in the Piazza:" "LOVE and be LOVED" I fell in love with Victoria Clark at that moment.

"My daughter died a virgin" and "I deserve lovers" from "Bernarda Alba."

The only time a cast recording has ever made me cry: "Because really, who could ever bear to leave?" in "Will You?" from "Grey Gardens."

The other moment that came close to making me cry was the end of "I Promised You a Happy Ending" from "Mack & Mabel."

Wow there's so many!

-L5Y: just about everything. That show is incredible. But more specifically, I love the piano intro in Goodbye Until Tomorrow. It's so simple but it works so well.

-A Chorus Line revival: I think it's Montage Part 1, but in the gonnorhea monologue the "who have you been with my son? nobody! NOBODY! Then how can you have... gonnorhea?" It cracks me up every time.

-Aida: Enchantment Passing Through - the last chorus when Adam's singing "and why did I tell her this; a stranger I've just met, a woman who I hardly know and WIIIIIIIIL FORGET!" I get chills so bad.

-Drowsy: "Antarctica? Oh, please." and all of Love Is Always Lovely & I Remember Love... its adorable =)

-SFANW: When the music picks up in the opening after the first "time to fly, time to flyyyy..." the pause in I'm Not Afraid of Anything between "and David loves me... he's afraid to hold me...", in I'd Give It All For You, the harmony and crecendo [sp?] into the bridge on "nothing about us was perfect or clear" and the whole first solo in Hear My Song.

-Spelling Bee: Pandemonium - Barfee's "life is pandemonium!" and "yes it is!" are hilarious. All of Why We Like Spelling [I'm still mad that it was cut]. My Unfortunate Erection - when Chip totally loses it and pops the bags of chips. Woe Is Me - the really long note at the end. It's pretty impressive =). I'm Not That Smart reprise - I just want to hug Leaf during this! The I Love You Song is just all-around gorgeous and I love it. Woe Is Me reprise also makes me want to hug Logainne.

There's definitely more but I can't think of them right now.

Love this thread! I'm glad I'm not the only person who notices this kind of stuff (:
Some of my favorites:
- "And if it wasn't for me, then where would you be, Miss Gypsy Rose Lee?" from Gypsy. It gives me chills on every recording.

- When Valjean comes in with "One day more!" after the line "The time is now, the day is here" in Les Miserables. I'm not really a huge Les Mis fan, but that part always gives me chills.

-Christine's "Yeah...." at the end of the Peas In A Pod Reprise from Grey Gardens

-"There we'd stay
Until the curtain fell.
And when the curtain tell.
Then all hell broke:
Girls on the run
And scenery flying,
Doors slamming left and right" from The Girls Upstairs in Follies

There wouldn't be lights bright enough!

This is my cumulative post for this thread:

The final verse of Defying Gravity

The way the cast of Parade sings the word Georgia in "The Old Red Hills of Home"

The da-da-dacky-dicky-da part of The Riddle Song of Floyd Collins.

Toni Collette in The Wild Party: The stink I got on me is from living with you, lying next to you. You have seeped into the pores of my skin, into my blood until everything I own smells like you. And the only thing that'll wash me clean...is SEEING! YOU! DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So powerful.

The Secret Garden: The way Robert Westenberg sings, "She has my Lily's hazel eyes." Just the way he sings the word "hazel." It's like ear candy to me.

LaChanze on The Color Purple: "And I'm/Thankful for every day that I'm given"

Stephanie D'Abruzzo in Avenue Q: When she sings, "And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore/I don't even think you know what you're looking for." The pain in her voice breaks my heart.

Christine Ebersole in Bright Lights, Big City: "Do you know how serious this is, Jaimie."

There will undoubtedly be more.

EDIT:

And here it is:

Two Gentlemen of Verona: Boom-chicka-chicka-chicka-chicka/Pap-paka-waka-waka/Kak-kaka-waka-waka/Pooz-wooza-wooza-wooza/Pap-paka-waka-waka-wow!

Raisin: Boo-hooze! Lovely boo-hooze!

Avenue Q--When John sings, "Good Night Saigon" and then says, "From the Russia concert!" Then when he says, "Don't put your finger there! Put your finger there!"

Parade--When Carolee sings, "I never knew anything at aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllll the wasted time." and just the way she sings it.

More Raisin:

When Robert Jackson sings the word, "Alaiyo."

During "You Done Right" when Joe Morton sings the "Yes sir, no sir" section.

On Avenue Q:

"You have no idea! Ready, normal people? Lemme hear it!

The Internet is for porn

Sorry, Kate!

The Internet is for porn

I masturbate

All these guys
Unzip their flies
For porn porn porn."

and

"Grab your dick
And double click
For porn porn porn."

Hilarious.

How clever the lyrics of "Mix Tape

I love the song, "For Now."

John Lloyd Young forever breaking my heart with Fallen Angel.

The first notes on Jersey Boys.

When Tonya is humming at the beginning of Caroline or Change.

Avenue Q--When John sings, "Good Night Saigon" and then says, "From the Russia concert!" Then when he says, "Don't put your finger there! Put your finger there!"

I love the song, "For Now."

John Lloyd Young forever breaking my heart with Fallen Angel.

The first notes on Jersey Boys.

When Tonya is humming at the beginning of Caroline or Change.

Spring Awakening: Lauren Pritchard's voice makes me melt.

Lili Cooper singing, "You say all you want is just a kiss goodnight, then you hold me and you whisper, child the lord won't mind."

Daphne Rubin-Vega's wailing during "Martirio" on Bernarda Alba.

Ann Harada's solo during White Boys on the Hair Actor's Fund recording (especially the way she sings, "My chocolate flavored treats")

Saundra Santiago singing "I can't hear him in my heart" on Bernarda Alba

the opening cello solo at the beginning of Mamma Who Bore Me on Spring Awakening

the first strains of the harp at the beginning of The Light in the Piazza and how it all crescendoes into that gorgeous melody

The big climax of People Like Us in The Wild Party (when Toni and Yancey are singing together)

All of Mario Cantone's monologue in Assassins

When Marc Kudisch sings "C'mere and kill a president" on Assassins, my jaw drops.

All of Touch Me on Spring Awakening

From Titanic:

Who called for speed and to break every record?!
Who had to keep all the millionaires happy?!

How dare you Smith!
I will not stand here indicted!
Who ignored warnings of icebergs when sighted?

Who, Sir, refused to extend up the bulkheads?!

You sir! To give the first class bigger staterooms!

And who undermined the position of Captain?

And who took a course too far north for the Season?

And who kept insisting
We land ever sooner?...

And who should And who had to have
have posted both the largest and
More lookouts fastest?...
in darkness?...
Who did it?!
Who did it?!
Who did it?!
Who did it?!
Who did it!?!

I get chills listening to the rage in these men's voices and hearing the orchestra build.

When Jane Summerhays and Tonya Pinkins sing (on The Wild Party):

And suicide!

Bernarda Alba:

when Daphne Rubin-Vega has her first line on the recording: the way she just says "Martirio" is very striking.

The Drowsy Chaperone:

When Beth Leavel sings, "As we push and we shhhhhhhhhhhhhhove!!!!!"

The Color Purple:

Lock up all your mens
And your young boys too
Shug ain't got no friends
'Cept the ones she screw

The Great American Trailer Park Musical:

NORBERT:

One step closer

JEANNIE:

Norbert, I can't get past the door

That moment is so touching.

All of Madame Guillotine on The Scarlet Pimpernel, particularly the choruses.

Chicago:

When Bebe sounds like she's vomiting in Me and My Baby

The vocalizing at the beginning of The Skate on The Bubbly Black Girl...

Dessa Rose:

I could be as strong as thunder
With his hand in mine
Tear the very storm asunder
Make the sun to shine
Teach him every word and wonder
Like you taught me...

The entire reprise of Mama Who Bore Me

Eden Espinosa belting it out on Coma Baby in Bright Lights, Big City

More Dessa Rose:

When Rachel York sings the line, "You've been gone these seven months" in At The Glen

The cast chanting, "Useless helpless greedy white woman. Ruint!"

When William Parry, Rebecca Eichenberger, and David Hess sing, "Who'd want you now, Ruth? You're just a whore"

Every time somebody sings, "Hey hey"

110 in the Shade (revival):

Jim: Now what's so bad about that? All we gotta do is...

Noah and Jim: CLEAN UP!!!!!!!

Love when they sing:

Got to get busy
Fix up for Lizzie

When Audra sings:

I'll pour peroxide on my h...No, I'm not doin' that.

I get chills when she sings:

Be thoughtful and sweet and proper
Until she goes away
She's been here a week and a half today
When will she ever go?

Go where?
Go where?
My dress is too tight!
My skin is alive all over!
It's turning to night
And yet not a sign of rain!
I'm all tied up!
My clothes seem to be on fire!
They're tying me up and
Burning me to the bone!

Why won't it rain?
Please let it rain!

Oh God,
Don't let me live and die
Alone!

Jane Eyre:

Oh let me sail away
And make this vow
That what my heart wants
I cannot allow
For as sirens call the sailors
She calls me now

and

Over mountains, over oceans
Heaven take me away
For I long for my liberty
For sweet liberty I pray

The way those melodies just take off and fly. It's amazing.

Blood Brothers:

The vocalizing in the Overture chills me to the bone

When the husband says, "I married a bleedin' rabbit" during Marilyn Monroe

LIVING ON THE NEVER NEVER,
CONSTANT AS THE CHANGING WEATHER,
NEVER SURE
WHO'S AT THE DOOR

The desperation in Mrs. Lyons' voice when she says, "I must have my baby."

The Narrator: How swiftly those who've made a pact can come to overlook the fact or wish the reckoning be delayed. But a pact is a pact. And must. Be. Paid. (His voice is electronically processed and punctuated by the drums.)

Mrs. Lyons: You will KILL THEM!

and then it goes into Shoes Upon The Table. Also, the refrain of Shoes Upon The Table is amazing.

Kid's Game:

I gotcha
I shotcha
And you bloody know I did

You know that if you cross your fingers
And if you count from 1 to 10
You won't get up off the ground again
It really doesn't matter
The whole thing's just a game
