Seriously though, I don't have any rumors. But after seeing her performance in A Single Man, I think Julianne Moore would make a lovely Desiree. I would also love to see Cate Blanchett take a stab at it.

Given the relative youth of this cast, Esparza's age wouldn't be a problem. But he is spoken for elsewhere starting in July!

More about the Paltrow and Danner rumors. The writer is an idiot though. They are not too young for Nunn's "concept." They are the ages he cast in London, and originally wanted for Broadway.
This person also claims the producers are looking at Mariska Hargitay for Desiree. I think she is a beautiful woman, but I'm not sure she is the right type.

Ljay, Friedman is simply saying they seem young for the roles, not that they shouldn't play it or anything, and he's right regardless of what Trevor Nunn thinks. I'm not sure if Friedman is correct on this one but I love his scoop, he's usually pretty reliable and his info tends to come from very good sources. Recently he was the first one to report on the Haiti telethon after George Clooney told him at one of the pre-Oscar events and he also was the first to report on the idea of re-recording We Are the World after the Grammys.
Either way, I must say I would kinda pee my pants if this were to happen, I think they would both be excellent in the parts and Paltrow has been on stage before.

All I am meant was their ages are hardly shocking if you are familiar with the London cast of this production. Waddingham was 34 and Lipman was 63.
Danner is 67 and Paltrow is going to be 38. That is hardly anything drastic at all.

^ I agree to an extent. But if they were able to get an Oscar winner to replace an Oscar winner, I give these producers a lot of credit.

Someone on ATC claims this isn't true, so who knows what's going on! I still wouldn't be shocked if we ended up with Brooke Shields.
