The demo CD is included as part of the discount mailer they've sent out. I received mine in yesterday's mail. If you're on any theater-related mailing list, you should be receiving one shortly.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
I finally had a chance to pop the cd in my computer. LOVE IT! I'm getting chills listening to Kerry. I'm most excited about this show. I need a new favorite show!
"The price of love is loss, but still we pay; We love anyway."
If anyone with the new demo CD is feeling kind and wants to help out a Londoner who really wants to hear the songs then please PM me! Have tickets for June and can't wait so anything I can get my hands on will be much appreciated!
I believe the Cheryl Ann character is now featured in the number "Doctor's Orders."
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
If I was home in March I'd definitely go on March 7th but ah I'm in upstate NY for school! April break can't come soon enough! Any word on a cast recording?
Got the CD in the mailer today and just downloaded those 4 songs. I read most of this thread, but am pretty unfamiliar with the buzz, per se....only saw the movie, which I loved. Any one who would like this DEMO, just PM me w/your mailing address. The Demo CD sounds REALLY tinny! and I can't say yet, esp. out of context, whether I like the tone of the music. I kinda liked BUTTER OUTTA CREAM the best, but the 4 tunes sounded a bit like second rate motown, or Jerry Herman wannabee. Could be wrong, though. I found the movie very intrinsically dark and disturbing, yet this DEMO sounds swingin' 60's upbeat....ah, well... Also, Kerry Butler's tune FLY FLY AWAY sounded pretty bad to me. A gospel spirit with no soul!? Still, I would see ANYTHING w/NORBERT, good, bad or ugly!
Keep in mind that this is a promo/demo. Also, I thought Kerry's Fly Fly Away was great. I know others did too. They should have out Goodbye on the promo. Aaron is fantastic with that song.
Steven 22: (Did you see the show out of town?) I think the quality of the sound should've been a whole lot better, even for a demo, since it's being used as a HUGE marketing tool...
The promo had these songs:
In LIving Color Jet Set Butter outta Cream Fly, Fly Away
Didn't see the show exactly..but I noticed that on the promo/demo the ensemble didn't sound great. And the orchestrations could be changed. The core elements sounded great, I think.
