What a shame that the production of 'White Christmas' playing Broadway this Christmas isn't starring Lorna Luft as it has done the last two Christmas' in the U.K.
For a short, brief two weeks Lorna and Liza would have been across the road from each other!
Lorna gave a fantastic performance in the U.K production.
This year she is going green and playing The Wicked Witch in 'The Wizard Of Oz'
In a musical version of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
Having them in a reworked production of the musical adaptation of WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? is sheer perfection!
I'm sure Liza would be up to it if it were a limited run with a selective performance schedule instead of the prequisite 8 performances a week schedule, which has kept many the former Broadway personality from returning to their roots (Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, etc).
I love it...What part would Miss Lorna play?...Jane or Blanche
Oh, that goes without saying... Lorna as Baby Jane and Liza as Blanche. The parallels to each of the women and their characters would be creepy... plus Liza gets to perform the entire musical in a wheel chair! Okay, a flashback dance number I'm sure she'll be up for.
Remember... Blanche became the bigger star than Baby Jane ever was, hence the whole plot of the story.
Okay, as long as Lorna can sing an updated version of "I've Written a Letter to Daddy...
LIZA MINNELLI is Blanche Hudson

I meant this as a joke, because I used to have a beautiful picture of the two of them together, but all I could find this morning was the one of Lorna escorting Liza from the hospital in the wheelchair. Hence the Baby Jane reference.
But I guess it WAS a good idea...
It now only was a good idea... but IS a good idea!
Fran? Barry? Anyone?
But does it HAVE to involve the unfortunately named Hal Hack-a-day?

This is sheer genius.
I can't wait for December 10th (when I see Liza's show).... the anticipation is killing me!
Maybe they could interpolate "Sisters, sisters. There were never SUCH devoted sisters..."
