Will I be the only heterosexual in the audience when I go?
When I saw Liza's pre-engagement in Woonsocket, RI.~there's a lot of straight people. Its usually her fans that she inherited from her mother's...
and besides..(not to be snarky) does it really matters??? LOL.
If youre straight and comfortable with your sexuality..does it matter if you are surrounded with a million gay guys... unless...... (fill in the blanks) _______________

Jaystarr, oh no, please dont take my comment the wrong way. I never meant it to come off a mean.
Dont worry I am just playing with you!
Just make sure you dont go to the bathroom during intermission and pee in the urinals and stare at the guy next to you!

The Times is mixed...

I would consider that "an honest rave," thoughtful and well-written, rather than "mixed.
I was just going by what they were saying on ATC.
I think this excerpt says from the Times review it all:
Once the show began to soar, though, Ms. Minnelli’s force of will became a triumph of spirit over flesh. As she insisted on doing what she can no longer do, her audacity was inspiring: her message was you do the best you can, and if you have to, fake it. She trusted the listener’s imagination to fill in the blanks.
Ms. Minnelli’s stage philosophy, after all, comes from the perspective of someone who grew up in a show business bubble and may never have questioned that life is a never-ending performance starring oneself. Within that bubble, catchphrases like “life is a cabaret, old chum,” and “the show must go on” make perfect sense and become poignant imperatives. As the years pass, Ms. Minnelli, now 62, seems increasingly aware that she is one of the last of a hardy vaudeville breed and the foremost custodian of that tradition.
A pure entertainer like Ms. Minnelli — and there is none purer — is at once voracious and extravagantly generous. If you’re onstage 24 hours a day, you have no choice but to give life everything you’ve got.
Come on. He LOVED it!
Very good and honest review.

I tried to watch the vid on this site, I really did.
I just couldn't finish it.
I'll leave her the way she is in my memory. I was lucky enough to see her in her prime, and that shouldn't be tampered with.
For those not so fortunate, I guess this would be exciting, but I just couldn't do it.
What video?

I saw her tour 2 years ago, at a casino in Vancouver and I was I think the only person under 35 there--and I was kinda surprised at how many middle aged (straight) coupels there were

DAME - the BWW TV vid advertised at the top right of this page (at least on my screen.) It's mostly a cut of her 'singing' "NEW YORK" . . .
The NY Post is a RAVE.
IT'S LIZA WITH AN A+ IN LATEST COMEBACK

My favotite part of the review...
"Sorry to disappoint all you vultures out there, but she's done it again: "Liza's at the Palace . . . !" is the sort of late-
career triumph of which show-business mythology is made.
Looking and sounding better than she has in years, the 62-year-old delivers a knockout show..."
TAKE THAT YOU VULTURES LOL!
I cant stop listening to Charles Aznavour's WHAT MAKES A MAN MAN? by Liza from her CD' Liza at the Palace'
Of what I am and what I'm not
What have I given
The answers come from those who make
The rules that some of us must break
Just to keep living
I know my life is not a crime
I'm just a victim of my time
I stand defenseless
Nobody has the right to be
The judge of what is right for me
Tell me if you can
What make a man a man

How much is the CD available at the palace?
A thousand punch lines notwithstanding, I always had the impression that the straights were crazier about Liza than the gays.
"How much is the CD available at the palace?"
$25 for the double CD...and worth every penny!
I started to watch the BWW video, but I had to stop because I want to experience the whole thing LIVE. It's TODAAAAYYYYY!
Holden's one of the most insightful and thoughtful critics out there. I've certainly disagreed with him - he was less enthusiastic about last week's Ebersole-Stritch show at Birdland than I was, but when he doesn't like something, he sets out his criticism without glib, snide nastiness. From that review he's solidly he's in Liza's corner. Sometimes vocal finesse matters less than charisma and warmth.
His considered, even loving review matters more to me than 30 other gushing raves with nothing interesting to say beyond loud platitudes.
I'm speechless. All I can say is that it was the best experience of my life.
You posted that same comment on other websites
"True brilliance" I must have said that 15 times at intermission and many more times after it was over. Go see this if you can. Please.
