For his recent one on Faye Dunaway titled FAYE, he was able to have her completely open up about her life, career, and legendary manic behavior in full transparency. Heck, the opening moments of the documentary he showed the infamous clip of Bette Davis on The Johnny Carson Show speaking ill of Faye then moments later he shows Faye being controlling and demanding as they're setting up to film her for the documentary. It immediately addressed that the documentary was not going to be a fluff piece and as with all his documentaries, you end up understanding where her manic episodes stemmed from and you go away loving and adoring her for everything she is.
It would have been refreshing to see Liza open up completely and truly speak about her life and career like Faye Dunaway did in this documentary:

Would you have a link to the Liza actors studio interview ? It doesn’t appear on my YouTube search. I’m so dumb with these things.
Enjoyed the doc, however, i just wish they would not have cut away from 'now' Liza sitting in the chair singing "And the World Goes 'Round" to the younger Liza footage of the same song so quickly at the end. Maybe not as powerful as she once was, there was still SO MUCH MAGIC in her newer performance, and she absolutely SHINES Those too few lines made me tear up with joy...... they should have let her finish

She was not well on the days they filmed and the producer is not very good - it’s kind of amateur. Those silly interviews with the retired dentist and the nip tuck wife

you go away - the doc should have been great about an a legend but they relied on a cast of used to be’s snd wanna be’s . Get ova yo self, J-Mean
I learned a lot about Liza by watching this. I thought it was very interesting. Liza never really opens up about her relationship with her Mom. The "real" story. She is coy about somethings. Michael Feinstein says iin it that Lize is never going to "dish" about her real relationships with other Celebs.
I did wonder when this was made. Some of the people look much younger than they do now... John Kander is now in his mid 90's. He looks like he is in his 80's here. Chita, god love her, looks like this was filmed five years ago. I couldn't get a grip on when the these people were filmed. It had to have been a while ago. Anyone know? The movie just came out in 2025, that's why I am confused.
Liza first announced this in April of last year, and it premiered at Tribeca in June.
Accounting for post-production time, it most likely was filmed over 2022/23.
