This film was shown last night at the Jacob Burns Film Center, in Pleasantville NY. (The director spoke afterwards.) Very well done, poignant and funny at times. If it comes out on DVD, I hope they can include more of the rare performance footage as an extra -- Mr. Klein said they have "thousands" of hours of material, but could only use a fraction of it in the movie.

I hope there's not too much Michael Feinstein. I find him nauseating.

I was told there’s a 25 minute section devoted just to this. Caroline Kennedy is interviewed in this section.

I saw this last weekend at IFC. Sorry to disappoint, but there's no mention of the Kennedy Center Honors.

So is it in-depth on the subject? I like Minelli as a performer, but in interviews, her answers are almost always guarded or she seems so disconnected from reality that there's no substance there. Very "show biz" in the pejorative sense of that term.

It is such a shame because she is so talented and has had such a interesting life. But throughout the years she has ( with the help of enablers) created her own very limited truth. When she dies and someone brave enough out of her circle has something to share.. we might get something truthful about this extraordinary life.

East Side Story, oh wow. I haven't seen it yet, as I'll be seeing the doc on Friday of next week. Did you see it? Does she lie about certain events?

Her glory days were her early days. Most people who win Kennedy Center Honors did great work for decades and remained influential, often even active, until being honored.

She won everything else in her first 10 years in the biz, which is a pretty amazing accomplishment in and of itself.
