You really should check out Ghost (thats the big summer musical), its having its world premiere here in Manchester before moving to London and from bits ive heard and what friends have told me about the FX etc it sounds pretty good
Has anyone heard when MATILDA might be coming to the West End? Maybe not in time for the summer, but I thought a transfer was more or less expected.
thanks everyone for their suggestions
i have tickets for GHOST, A DELICATE BALANCE, THE CHERRY ORCHARD and hoping to find one to LUISE MILLER.
I have two spaces left in case any additional shows announce...
Clifford Odets' rarely performed Rocket To The Moon begins previews this week at the National's other and equally splendid main theatre, the Lyttleton. It's booking until late June.
Matilda isn't due until November last I read.
I'm going to Betty tomorrow night will report back. What sort of musical do you usually like? The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is a very good show, it's one of those LOVE it or HATE it shows though so really depends on what you like.

Any early word on this yet or is anyone seeing it this week? I can fit this in on a Sunday...so a little tempted.
I'll be seeing it this Saturday. I'll report back.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on UMBRELLAS (ella, ella, ella, hey, hey)
I've got two spaces open so maybe that might be one of the shows...Still waiting to hear about Meniere Chocolate Factory

The Much Ado About Nothing starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate will probably be AMAZING. It begins performances in May and runs through September. I love love love both of them.
Just read that Diana Rigg is going to be in PYGMALLION...saw her on stage in the West End about 7 or 8 years ago doing SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER - which was great...however, not sure if this speaks to me
Whats the buzz?
Can't answer about Pygmallion Vernon, but I saw Betty Blue Eyes on Wednesday and was VERY impressed! An excellent new, and VERY British musical!
is it too British where a Dumb American like myself will be left scratching my head wondering what i just saw?
No I don't think so. As long as you know all about the food rationing that happened during/after World War II in Britain you will be fine.
If you like Michel LeGrand's music then Umbrellas of Cherbourg is for you - a two hour immersion in gorgeous melodies. What's onstage doesn't quite achieve lift off but it's all quite charming and fun and definitely worth a visit.
I think right now - with my available slots - I am thinking about
Betty Blue Eyes
Richard III - not sure who else is in the cast but Sam Mendes directing is cool and it would be my first time at the Old Vic - thats if i can score a ticket
Meniere Chocloate Factory - Waiting to see what they announce - people here have mentioned Road Show - which if I remember correctly didnt get that great of reviews here in the US...but cast/director announcement should make that interesting, or not
Play Esq. - You were considering Rocket to the Moon at the NT. Consider no more. Grab a ticket. It's a terrific play being given a superb production.
I disagree mallardo. I found it to be so boring!!! It is split into three acts. Act two is good, act one and three go by at a snails pace and nothing much happens. Very slow, I'd skip it to be honest.
Well, it's written in three acts, played in two. I wasn't bored and all kinds of things happens. Lives change and very plausibly.
Any updates or inside scoop on anything else that might be opening in London over the summer?
I wish Clybourne Park and Deathtrap were still playing while I'm there
I guess Meniere should be making an announcement soon - if the show is going up at the end of June...
I might be off to see The Wizard and perhaps Betty Blue Eyes to fill my open spaces.
Great to hear about BETTY BLUE EYES. The film it's based on (A PRIVATE FUNCTION) is very good and has a memorable Maggie Smith performance. I'm interested to see how it translates to the stage.

Well you can knock Umbrellas of Cherbourg off your list as it is closing on May 21st instead of its previously announced date of October 1st.

Hey Billy Whiz - just read that as well...I don't think I was inclined to check that show out - although if the buzz was strong I might have thought about it.
I still have two spaces left - a Sat matinee (maybe the Donmar Luise Miller) and Sunday afternoon - should anything pique my interest...
Starting to think if something was going to open in the West End at the end of June, wouldnt it already have been announced?
Well, whatta you know...A Pinter play - BETRAYAL starring Kristin Scott Thomas has just been announced in the West End.
Directed by Ian Rickson (Jerusalem) I've never seen a Pinter play so excited about this...
Glad I left some open slots in my schedule...
