Saw this in London and loved it. Amber was fantastic! I hope this comes to NY so I can see it again.

Well, maybe Holliday can play Deena.

"Well, maybe Holliday can play Deena."
Ouch.
Is it too late/obvious to dreamcast Patina Miller as Deena?

Does anyone know what the opening number to Act 2 is like?

Patina would be great. But would her tv schedule allow that?

Patina is pretty much the perfect Deena!

I may be impartial but Patina Miller as Deena all the way!

John Breglio (holds rights to the estate of Michael Bennett) confirms the production has Broadway intentions and will open next season. Shuberts are producing!

is the current London version using the original material or the recent US tour rewrite? I hope it's not the recent US tour as that tour was terrible.

It has some stuff in common with the U.S. tour. I'd be happier with a production that more closely resembled Bennett's original, in material and staging.

which Broadway theatre could house the physical production currently playing at the Savoy in London? (and also match in the number of seats, Savoy is a medium sized theatre If I recall correctly)

I think the Broadway Theatre is a likely venue for this production. MISS SAIGON closes January 2018, and this revival is looking to open next season. It could open in the Spring of 2018 at the Broadway. But really, who knows?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say MISS SAIGON extends several times.

The Savoy in London is a three-tiered space with 1,150 seats. Of the houses in the Shubert portfolio, its closest contemporaries would be the Broadhurst (with 1,156 seats) the Jacobs (with 1,078 seats,) and the Schoenfeld (with 1,079 seats.)
I've heard they're shooting to come in at the beginning of 2018. Casey Nicholaw opens MEAN GIRLS out of town in DC this October so the most logical thing would be for them to begin rehearsals immediately thereafter before he will presumably be prepping that production for its own Broadway transfer.

Nicholaw's certainly sticking to a theme with Dreamgirls and Mean Girls... ![]()

It seems like it would fit well in the Shubert, sitting almost 1,500. This is assuming Bette leaves in January, with the show closing with her, but seems unlikely.

I was thinking this production would go to the Belasco. It has a fairly large orchestra. It also includes a Mezzanine, and Balcony. Seems like the perfect fit to me!!

i've been saying for a couple years now: if this comes to Broadway i want Amber Riley, Patina Miller and Nikki M. James to play the three girls. We're off to a good start already with Amber.
who could play the guys??

Adrienne Warren for Lorrell! She'd slay "Ain't No Party"!

I saw this Monday and it is indeed terrific. Amber made this American very proud she is representing us.
I was skeptical of their use of "Listen", but a minor lyric change as made it a terrific duet for Deena and Effie, bringing them together again.
The Jimmy here is exceptional. I'd bring him, if possible. I imagine both he and Amber will be serious Olivier contenders.

She actually already played Lorrell in the most recent national tour and she did, in fact, slay.
I'm not a big fan of including "Listen." Mainly just because I love the original music and lyrics for Effie and Deena's reunion. "Listen" does make it a bigger moment, though.
