Looking ahead - 09-10 musicals

I know that we haven't even had the TONYs yet, but let's start looking at next season's musicals.

REVIVALS:
Bye Bye Birdie
Finian's Rainbow
A Little Night Music

NEW SHOWS:
Spider-Man
Addams Family
Catch Me If You Can
Love Never Dies (Phantom 2)

? Sister Act (London transfer)
? Leap of Faith (though I don't think Menken would compete with himself)
? Minsky's
? Tales of the City

Anything else in the pipeline? Enlighten us all.

There's been talk about it transfering, infact wasn't there an article about it on this website not too long ago? I believe I read it here.

Whoopi has spoken frequently (on various UK talk shows, as well when she originally announced the UK production of The View) of plans to open Sister Act in New York sometime in the 2009-2010 season.

The show is getting great preview buzz here and anticipation is growing for opening night June 7. Simply put, London definitely has a hit on its hands.

Wasn't Roundabout's DANCIN' put off for this season?

Some sites have Bye Bye Birdie listed as a an open run while others have it as a limited run. Which is it?

It's a limited run for now at least... *fingers crossed* I hope it's good enough to turn into an open run. It has been way too long since the original and it deserves to stay for a while.

VANITIES (off-Broadway)
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

As per Riedel, Fela! is opening at the Eugene O'Neill in October. Have to say, it's already shaping up to be an interesting musical season for 2009-2010.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Is it just me, or does The Addams Family seem like it's going to be a massive, massive hit? I haven't heard one bit of the score or anything, but given the talent of the creative team and cast, plus a well known entity like The Addams Family, and this just has the makings of a huge hit.

Let's not forget about Young Frankenstein.
