Is anyone else having mixed feelings about this show. Kurt Weill is great, but seriously with all the hustle and bustle of broadway nowadays, how interesting will this show really be? Don't geat me wrong I love Michael Cerveris and I want to make mad passionate love to Donna Murphy, I'm just sensing an unfortunate flopper. But I guess the same was said about the concept for Grey Gardens....
Going to a musical late in its run is like going to a prostitute late in her shift.
LoveMusik can never flop (at least financially). It's being produced by the Manhattan Theater Club, a non-profit organization. Even if it sucks, it'll 99% play out its run, no worse for the wear.
That doesn't even make sense. I was referring to the movie musical fads, hollywood star fads, grand commercialization, and conspicuous finances for set design. Hope that cleared it up for you.

And what's not to love about it? Kurt Weill music, Hal Prince direction, two of the best musical theatre performers working today...I'm there.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Let's see: a Jewish composer creating highly political works in Nazi Germany, who marries a Catholic former streetwalker and flees to America. There, he creates some of the most unusual musicals Broadway has seen, while sustaining a marriage and a mistress, before dying young. How is that NOT interesting?
Of all of the upcoming shows to target for possible artistic bankruptcy, who in their right mind would select LoveMusik?

BB: don't buy a ticket. That'll show 'em! Personally, I think it sounds like one of the more interesting productions of the season. That doesn't mean it will be terrific, but I wouldn't reject it out of hand. Some of us actually like the stuff that isn't the usual "hustle and bustle."
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
Smaxie couldn't have said it better. Combine that with the fact that it is being directed by the most legendary director alive, with a book by a Pulitzer, Tony and Oscar winner, and starring two Tony winners that are considered some of the best musical theater performers of their generation. I'm so there.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Its a limited run. Who cares about appeal! Its sounds 200 tiems more interesting than the "appealing" things audiences are flocking to. Its a non-profit, they're able to take bigger risks.
Yeah, Bobby. I was really hoping MTC would revive HIGH FIDELITY. Instead, they give us this crap. Who the hell wants to see that talentless hack Donna Murphy? GIVE ME JENN COLELLA!

I've kinda always thought of it as the "arena" of the broadway world (pardon the pun). Don't you think these message boards are kind of like a giant gladatorial arena?
I have several names, one is Julian2. I am also The Opps Girl. But cross me, and I become Bitch Dooku!
You totally can't sit at this thread, Bobby! Learn your place...

Wow peeps, I didn't mean to create such an astounding uproar over this. I suppose that I should have saw it coming, people really protect their musicals on these boards. I was just playing devil's advocate and tossing out an opinion. Thanks for putting me in my place.

You tried to post something I guess you thought was provocative, and got what you deserved. If the Broadway non-profit theatres like MTC, Roundabout or Lincoln Center are going to produce a musical, at least let it be something that sticks its neck out a little and tries something outside of the current Broadway artistic climate. What else are they there for?

I, for one, think this is something no Broadway fan should miss.
..and it sounds a hell of a lot more interesting then some of the "art" thats out there now and breaking records.
