Okay, so now the actors are going to have to act, sing, play instruments, and roller-skate.
No thanks!

This show just isn't really worth reviving. I mean of all the fun projects they could work on - why this?

Rath, I was thinking the same thing. I hope Doyle doesn't apply that to this production.

Oh, I'm guessing he picked it for just that very reason. He needs a new gimmick.

It's not a great show, but I still love the score. It's a guilty pleasure. I love the idea of Patti singing a Kander and Ebb score. I hope they record it.

Rath, I see workman's comp all over this one!!

I'd go see this if it starred Eartha Kitt and Daphne Rubin-Vega.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Of course not. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Oh, sorry, misinterpreted.
Anyway, I think LuPone would make a fantastic Anna - I just don't like the Doyle actors-with-instruments thing. Actors need to focus on acting, musicians on instruments. If their focus is going to be split, then cut the ticket prices.

I wonder if "Angel's Rink and Social Center" will be in the show...I love that song!

Dear God,
If you love me, please let Patti LuPone do this show, so that I can have the dream of seeing her act, sing, dance, play the tuba and rollerskate all at the same time come true.
Love,
HC

I hate this trend but if they must do it, they should get Linda Blair. I think she is free and she can roller skate and she plays the piano.

I just got a mental image of Patti skating across stage with her tuba. Thanks for that! hahaha

This could be fun.
But PLEASE, must we do this with the actor musician concept also?
And I thought LuPone was going to do Gypsy in London? She can't be doing both.
The Rink is also a show that requires quite a bit of choreography. It would be like doing Chicago with the actor-musician concept. It wouldn't work, because you need the dancing. Same for Follies, that would never work with Doyle's tired concept.

Ijay-
She's going to do it AT THE SAME TIME...so not only will she rollerskate and play tuba, but she will be singing Small World to Eartha Kitt whilst whomever plays Herbie accompanies her on the electric cello.

Yes! The "Hoff" would be stellar, and he could double with the Rin k as well and play the Jason Alexander role! GENIUS!

I guess this sinks those rumors of Patti takng Gypsy to the West End?
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Well, since this is posted as "may reunite," it's not a sure thing by any means. Besides, it's not like she's 92 and has only one show left in her - why couldn't she be doing both?

First of all, the two women in the show DO NOT ROLLER SKATE - only the men and the little girl.
Second of all, Anna is supposed to be 48 years old - and in flashbacks, she plays a teenager. Angel is supposed to be 30 - and flashes back to a child. Eartha Kitt as a 48 year old Italian woman? hahahahaha.
