Graham was very bewildered.
Considering how she was with a small crowd like tonight (since it's only going to get much worse as the run goes on,) my guess is they're going to have an organized system where she comes out and signs down a line without taking photos so she can get to more people and still be able to leave quickly.
She seemed extremely uncomfortable by the disorganization tonight and attempted to leave three separate times, although she was as nice as she could have been considering.

Truckload was the wrong word to use before, apologies, but the deer in headlight statement I made before definitely was on the brink of coming out in full tonight. It'll totally be there (unless as somethingwicked says they set something up) when more people start stagedooring.
I think it also didn't help that a lot of people didn't know where the stage door actually was to be able to stand. Because I so a number of people who wanted to stay around but they were worried that the performers were going to go out another exit and they'd miss them, so why bother staying.

Theatre looks absolutely gorgeous inside. I was sitting about 10 rows (stalls) back and from what I could see it was full downstairs, couldn't tell you how it was on Mezz level though.

I agree that there will need to be a system (barricades or whatever) to get her through the stagedoor. Inside would be nice too!
From my vantage point, the mezz was full...but looked like mostly theater-insiders who were probably comped.
The student rush seats to my knowledge are side orchestra, but the man that I spoke to at the box office said that they were willing to give as many as fifty student rush tickets per performance, if available in and around the front row... It all sounds a little vague.

She was friendly to me when I talked with her, but that's because I was trying to do a quick sign this and get out of there since I had passed her earlier in the night and didn't want a double look scenario occurring. Well that and I had met her through a mutual friend years ago but didn't want to stay around long enough in a crowded situation for that to be brought up again.]
Why didn't you want that brought up Nadine? Were you afraid Lauren Graham would think you were stalking her?
I'm glad the first preview was well received. That is great news. Thankyou for all your reviews everyone.

The Nederlander stage door situation has always been a mess. Hopefully, they will get things figured out by the time I see the show next month. I also hope that Lauren will still be taking pictures by then.
Why hire a skinny actor for a fat role and put him in a fat suit when there are plenty of heavier actors around looking for work?!?!?!?!!? This drives my up a wall and (although I'm about to get creamed for this) to me is no different than hiring a white actor to play a black role in makeup. It's offensive and discriminatory!

I'm still wondering about the orchestrations. Are they revamped, the originals or the cartoonish '92 ones? (the latter would surprise me, but who knows)...

I agree about the Fat Actor thing. Although, to the creative team's credit, maybe they auditioned larger men, and Titus was just the best for the part.
so......
I sat 6th row center orchestra... and the first thing i noticed was that I couldnt believe i was in the nederlander... what a different place!
So... MARY TESTA MARY TESTA MARY TESTA... she is amazing! Granted I am a huge fan of hers but I stlll loved her so much.
Platt made me want a refund.. his line readings were horrid... i felt like he was in another play, it was very weird.
Graham... seemed very nervous in the beginning. I was very impressed with her, i dont know what I was expecting with her but I felt impressed at the end.
Bierko was much better than Platt, but still I wanted more from him. That could be applied to everyone I wanted more from everyone... all around.
I hate when you have the feeling you want more and you never get it.... I thought everyone was VERY 2D...
Titus was interesting... sometimes he was jamaican, not sure why... maybe he still wants to be Sebastian? Also he was wearing a fat suit, i cant understand why...
The sets were the star of the show... holy **** that show is amazing. I dont know where they put all that **** backstage but the show LOOKS fantastic and amazing.
Des was sitting right in front of me... that was very interesting.
I definitely want to go back to see the show after some time has passed to see how it has all settled
I'm not sure Des McAnuff was the right choice to direct a classic musical. He tends to do better with modern, high-concept shows. Let's hope he lets the material come through instead of covering it up with high-tech wizardry.

So rush is a student rush then? Think I need to get my student card sorted for March.
what is row H Orch like?
I hope they sort out the whole stagedoor thing soon, I hate to think people travel any distance (me London lol) and it was all messed up

Y'all forget that Walter Bobbie played Nicely in the '92 revival. And he didn't wear a fat suit.
They didn't forget, Yankee. Most of 'em weren't even alive. Or if they were, they were in diapers.

Please post ALL the understudies!
Pattilupuppy: Yes the set was the star of the show, and was very impressive. At the same time isn't it so depressing to go to Guys and Dolls and walk out saying the sets were awesome?
Titus' fat suit needs to go. I just assumed he had put on weight since Mermaid. It looks awful and there seems to be little reason for it.
After listening to the '92 revival cast recording again this morning I am reminded of how wonderful this show can be. I hope this cast is able to capture some of the magic that is there for the taking. This shouldn't be a difficult show to pull off well.

Benjamin Magunson's a swing? Oof! He was a frickin' lead in the Sweeney revival!
When you're walking out of GUYS & DOLLS raving about General Cartwright and the amazing sets, you know there is something wrong with the production!!

I'm not seeing G&D until February 28th, by which time I hope the wrinkles have been ironed out. It's a little disheartening to learn that the General Cartwright is the best thing in the show -- I love Mary Testa -- but something's wrong when that role is the standout.
Glad to hear someone singled out John Selya -- I'm assuming that he's doing the sort of thing Scott Wise did in the '92 revival. Selya is one of the truly great dancers of our time -- and Broadway is lucky to have him. I'll always remember him in Movin' Out -- just spectacular. On another note, did anyone see him after the show? The only time I ever spoke to him, he was pleasant enough, but I'm not so sure that stagedooring is his thing.
