I love Matilda on stage, but I'm afraid of Warchus's lack of film experience. It's a different medium and really needs someone who lives and breathes film. I find with few exceptions that theatre directors/choreographers turned film directors tend to miss that vision that makes film its own unique medium.

I like Kendrick as much as the next person, but I'd like to hear someone else sing in a film for once. It seems like there was a period of time where every movie with Kendrick featured her singing in one way or another. She's also a little too knowing, too sardonic for the role.
I really want Emily Blunt to be Miss Honey now Mary Poppins is done
John Krasinski would be great as the Escapologist
I love the score from this show, but there are also some real clunkers. Let's hope the cut the boring songs. Sorry Miss Honey...
Which of Miss. honeys song do you not like?
I think Act I is a lot stronger than Act II, musically. My House & Quiet are right next to each other and are both pretty boring in my opinion. This Little Girl is also nothing special either -- for a show with such clever and wordy lyrics, that one is so... typical. To be fair I saw the show late in the run and had partial view lottery seats, so my experience of seeing the show wasn't the best. There could be stuff I'm missing, but I have listened to that score dozens of times and love most of it.
I love this show, but the style is so theatrical I have a hard time seeing it work as a film.
This should be an animated film.
I'd like to see a multimedia hybrid, personally.
And does Karen Gillan sing? She'd be a good Miss Honey.
Only if Lesli Margherita is Mrs. Wormwood. There is no other.

I can really see Matilda’s escapologist/acrobat Story bring stop motion and then everything else being live action.
I know they'll probably be looking to cast Brits mostly, but a fun Dreamcast:
Trunchbull- Titus Burgess
Miss Honey- Annaleigh Ashford or Laura Bell Bundy
Mr. Wormwood- Seth McFarlene or Jim Carey
Mrs. Wormwood- Kristin Chenoweth or Jane Krakowski
Miss Phelps- Octavia Spencer

Alison Luff who played Ms Honey here would be perfect. She's the right age (in her 20's) and is a singing/acting dream.

Weird suggestion but what about Tim Minchin for Mr Wormwood?
^OMG yes! Or James Corden if he has time.
As long as Bertie reprises his Trunchbull, I'm good
Lea Michelle for Trunchbull - finally a role to fit her personality.
