I'm sure they removed the listing until closer to the UK broadcast so people don't decide to buy the cheaper video release rather than see it in the cinemas.

Re: Rachelle reprising her role, I hopped on the bandwagon and bought a ticket to make sure I was seeing this show with those 3 reprising their roles. I just want to know who is playing Chris... a friend suggested Jay Armstrong Johnson would make a good Chris!

Unfortunately, she was already in LES MIZ when I saw MISS SAIGON.  The Chris I saw was American.  I wonder if that's how they got Actors Equity to allow Rachelle Ann Go to reprise Gigi?  Perhaps Mackintosh and co. entered into a quid pro quo arrangement with the analog of Actors Equity in London to allow an American to appear at the Prince Edward in exchange for a non-American to appear in the Broadway revival.  This was the big issue in the 1991 production.  The only Filipino who crossed the Atlantic was Lea Salonga and Marina Chapa originated Gigi at the Broadway Theatre instead of Isay Alvarez.

At any rate, I'm looking forward to seeing Go live on Broadway.  She's got a great voice and presence.  Too bad Gigi is such a small role.

Several American actors (including the female lead) appeared in the West End revival so it's likely part of an AEA exchange.

Duh.  You're absolutely right.  How could I forget Eva Noblezada and Jon-Jon Briones!

Looks like the DVD is back up on Amazon UK for preorder. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Miss-Saigon-25th-Anniversary-Performance/dp/B01M040H2D

Does anybody know if the blu ray version listed on Amazon.co.uk will be region free like the Billy Elliot Live blu ray was?  Both are distributed by Universal.

The Amazon UK Blu-ray is not region free; it is B/2.

Will it be available in the US?

Wasn't sure if the B/2 was in reference to just the dvd release and not the blu ray since the listing covers both versions.

No date has been set; wonder if it has anything to do with the revival coming in the spring.

When we attended the cinema screening in September during intermission they were promoting .... "COMING SOON TO DVD & BLU RAY" accompanied by a picture of both.  It seems strange that they would have included this if they did not intend to release it until after the upcoming Broadway revival.

Let's hope so... but again, there was no date for a reason. And we got the same screening the UK gets on Sunday so it really WILL be "coming soon"... as in that next week.

Just ran across another site with the dvd listed for sale (no mention of the blu ray) ... it listed the release date as 11/16/16 and appears to be an Australian company ... that particular site lists the dvd as "Region 4 PAL"

So the dvd will be a double dvd and the Blu ray will be a single disc?

I suppose because both acts fit on a blu ray but not on a dvd? Or is it about extra's.

How long did Miss Saigon screening actually last? Just 2,5h or...?

Screening lasts a little over 3 hours. Keep in mind it's the show itself plus the 25th anniversary celebration in the end. There are 3 intermissions throughout, 2 10-minute ones and one 5-minute one.

The first disc of the DVD release will be the performance and gala which is about 3 hours or more. The second disc will include the full-hour "The Heat Is Back On" documentary on the making of the revival.  The performance, plus gala, PLUS documentary would all essentially fit on one Blu-ray disc.

It hasn't been released, so you cannot say that definitively. Blu-ray Disc players and Blu-ray Disc-equipped computer systems are required to enforce regional coding. However, studios are not required to use region playback codes (thereby making the discs region free). Because region-free is not a formal/official setting, the packaging would still indicate a specific region for playback. The major studios have released most of their titles region-free.

I'm aware; I was just reiterating what was on the Amazon listing.

When we attended the screening last month there were only 2 intermissions ... a 5 minute one between acts and then a 10 minute one after the show before the gala anniversary finale.  Still haven't figured out why they didn't have the 10 minutes between acts and the 5 minute one between the show and that gala finale ... 5 minutes didn't even give people a chance to run to the restroom and get back before it had started again.

But if you look at the listing on Amazon.co.uk it says the blu ray is a "2 disk version" and the dvd is a "1 disk version".  Amazon.co.uk listing
