There is an article here on Broadwayworld.com that states that the 25th anniversary production of MISS SAIGON will be broadcast in US cinemas on Thursday, September 22nd but I've found no other mention of that anywhere. Normally screenings such as this are put on thru Fathom Events but there is no mention of it on their website and I would certainly think that it should be if it were only about a month away. Has anyone else heard and seen any information about US screenings of this?

Since I'm sure people are curious, here's a link.

Is this THE link you were referring to, though? Because there's no date.

Is it better live or on film because I found the recording to be awful. That Chris' vibratto is alllll wrong for the show.

Just checked around online. It is being presented by Fathom Events, but there is nothing about it on their site. Fandango does have it listed and also allows you to buy tickets. Can't wait to see it! It was the first show I ever saw on Broadway and has one of the most beautiful and addictive scores ever.

UPDATE (8/23/16) ... Finally something official ... new article here on Broadwayworld. com https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/MISS-SAIGON-Sets-Date-to-Arrive-in-US-Movie-Theatres-20160823
and Fathom Events now has it appearing on their website https://www.fathomevents.com/event/miss-saigon/more-info/details
Now I just have to keep checking for my local theatre to show up on the list. I'm pretty sure it will as they program most all of the Fathom Events at this theatre. CAN'T WAIT!! Saw this production in London in 2015 (actually saw it twice in one week) It's great!! Don't miss it if you have the chance to see it. Now I just have to wait for them to announce when the dvd will be available . ![]()

This looks like it's going to be fantastic. Though the one day they're having it, it's already sold out at the only theater in my city.
What are the odds they'll add additional showtimes and/or another day besides 9/22? Saw this in London, and it's truly a spectacular production.

I'll be seeing it in Chicago next week. I'm very excited for it.

I'm really hoping to see this next week. The only Pittsburgh location is a long bus ride but this is the first Fathom Event so far that I've been tempted to make the trek for.

I've gotta say that I think Fathom Events has been doing some very cool stuff for musical arts and film lovers for a long time now and I really appreciate it. I live in a fairly large college town, but still have to drive two hours to see the big musicals on tour. There is a movie theater about two miles from my house and over the years I've seen the Les Mis 25th anniversary concert, Memphis, Billy Elliot, classic movies and multiple Drum Corps International competitions. Going to see Miss Saigon next Thursday and am stoked!

I was going to wait till it got a little closer but friends were at the movies this weekend and asked about Miss Saigon and the manager said it was selling "surprisingly well" SO we bought the tickets in advance.
For people who have attended these in the past do you know if there is an intermission or do they just show the whole show with no break?
Thanks.

When they showed RENT Live in theaters, they kept the intermission (a shot of the stage) intact.

I am really bummed! The theatre that's closest to me, where I have seen all of the big musical broadcasts in the past ... LES MIZ, PHANTOM, BILLY ELLIOT, and yes, I even went to FROM HERE TO ETERNITY at this theatre ... they are not showing MISS SAIGON. The only theatre in Iowa showing it is in West Des Moines, which is 3 1/2 hrs from me. I called the theatre and asked management if they thought it would be added at the last minute and was told it didn't appear likely. So I guess I will be making a road trip on the 22nd!! I will not miss this opportunity to see it again (I saw it in London last year) because who knows when, or even IF, the dvd/blu ray will be available here. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you have the opportunity don't miss it!! Interesting that the one poster said that the showing was already SOLD OUT in his city ... my experience going to these screenings in the past has been that they are not all that well attended so I've never purchased tickets in advance ... perhaps I should re-consider that this time.
P.S. for the person asking ... yes, these screening normally have an intermission.

Why are the celebrating the 25th anniversary two years late?
Is this an "encore" presentation?

If we go by the American premiere of the show, 2016 is technically the 25th anniversary of the show.

The actual performance was done two years ago when it was the London 25th, I guess they are exhibiting it in the US for the Broadway anniversary. Either way it's still the Anniversary Gala performance.
Didn't the same thing happen for Phantom and Les Mis? Actual performances were corresponded to the London anniversaries but the Broadcasts in the US were for the Broadway anniversaries. I may have entirely invented that though.
Does anyone know if this showing will include the extended finale with Lea Salonga etc??

@Mr.Nowack
From what the release says and the trailer shows I assume yes. Cant find the US trailer but the UK trailer shows it at the end.

Fathom Events, Universal Pictures and Picturehouse Entertainment bring Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's legendary musical, MISS SAIGON: 25th ANNIVERSARY PERFORMANCE, to select cinemas nationwide for an extraordinary one-night event on Thursday, September 22. Captured live in front of a sold-out audience at London's Prince Edward Theatre, audiences will be memorized by the extremely talented cast of Jon Jon Briones, Eva Noblezada, Alistair Brammer, Hugh Maynard, Tamsin Carroll and Rachelle Ann Go.
Plus, this special event features a finale of epic proportions with appearances from the original cast, including Jonathan Pryce, Lea Salonga and Simon Bowman.

Oh, I didn't realize this was the same performance as featured on the live recording CD. It seems that this is the first UK broadcast as well, though - it's been sitting in a can somewhere the last couple of years waiting for the US anniversary. I guess that makes sense.

I've got my tickets for it. Really looking forward to seeing it. I saw the show in NYC, 2 months after it opened - twice in May of 1991.

It's not. The live CD was recorded a few weeks after opening night in May 2014, the 25th Anniversay Gala show was in September 2014.
